EarthRunes is a barony inside a county (I forget the county name, ST), and the Count was manipulating the old Baron, forcing him to silence while the Count engaged in manipulation of the Duke and Duchess.

barony = handful of freeholds (ER and Key Guild)

So once we revealed and defeated Count (big fight on Samhain and events thereafter), he was removed, and the County seat sits empty.

It's very simple... the Duchy of Much of Missouri has a Duke and a Duchess who were bespelled by a thang, from the Evil Count mcHarpharp . Evil Count worked for Shadowcourt and was using shadowcourt baddies to do bad things and spread the baddies. The Good guys (See PCs) with the aid of the 'sir not appearing in this film' fought them off and revealed their evil evil ness, and Evil Count was defeated even as Baron Sexysway ap Coradel inherited Earth Runes. But, with Evil County face gone, Sparrow has been asked by Duke and Duchess not so magickeed now, to evaluate possible replacements for the seat of Counting.
