Merit-based. SERIOUSLY merit-based. She has proven herself in battle, she has proven herself in court, and she has done service to the Duchy.

Bird has been working up to be a Baroness. Countess is a different thing.

Her mortal side has had a sudden change of fortune, yes...but her fae side? She's was already a baroness...being in the inner circle of EarthRunes is just getting her back to where she should have been in the first place. Countess is just a small promotion above that.

She's autumn - so she's both!

And I don't think she can fully accept the idea that COuntess is possible

She has reasons for that doubt
