I think my favorite anecdote was from when a base was a joint operation, Army and Air Force working together. Two guards, one USAF, the other Army. they had slightly different rules on duty. The Air Force guy was allowed to read. The Army guy was not. So Air Force guy is reading when an army officer comes onto the two. She eyes the magazine, and look at the USAF guard, and goes "Are you reading?" He replies "Yes, Lt." Fussing at him she says "He" pointing at the Army co worker "Can't read." Without missing a beat, the USAF guy says "That's okay, when I'm done he can look at the pictures."
