It is! On dad's side it was Shadrack Duff who died in NC in 1781.

Not sure when he emigrated, but he married a woman born in America and had 2 kids. Thing2 is named after the boy.

I have a many-greats grandmother who was christened in the US in 1692

Chances are very good Shadrack left Scotland after Culloden in 1745 or so.
