I've been teaching the gender-neutrals, but I need to settle on a particular form. I think Spivak is most well known.

I like the singular they

much more natural than "xer" or any of that silly crap

It makes my subject-verb agreement instincts scream.

We do it with You and You

i tend to wince when someone says y'all to a singular so I cannot throw stones.

I get that, but I'm a 51 year old English teacher, and I've been teaching kids OUT of the singular-They error for over a decade-and-a-half, now.

I think that might be initially confusing but I get where you're coming from.

I like using "one" for a gender netrual singular, because it sounds all Sci Fi... but no one else joins in on that 🙂
