I don't see him as afraid to get his hands dirty -- see, working in a motorcycle and repair shop -- but my aunt owned a horse ranch and it's easy to mess up (or get messed up) if you don't kow what you're doing. First thing I learned as a kid was never get behind the horses in case they get ornery or spook. They can kick.

And if they step on your foot, that foot is going to be sore for days.

Horse spooked with me on it, took off, stopped and threw me into a barbed wire fence, thankfully missing the barbs.

And they can be jackasses. Try and get up on the saddle, horses seem to find it the funniest thing in the world to sidestep while you're trying.

It's like they KNOW when you don't know what you're doing. 😛

I haven't riden a horse since I was kid...

Same. I was a tween at the time, I doubt the horses get any nicer as you get older. 🙂

But she liked quarter horses, and from what I understand, they can be a little....high-strung?

But just thinking of poor Ice trying to handle the stalls.

Especially troll-sized horses.

You have to clean their hooves with a pick, and what you do is put your hand on the leg, run the hand down to the hoof, then lift it, so they know what you're about to do. But if the horse decides it doesn't want a manicure that day, they can nip.
