Occasionally he changed my mind, on this occasion I changed his. After a few examples of how it COULD be Musing and not just Ravaging, he agreed. It can be the impetus for imagination...you hear a scratch in the closet, and immediately your mind begins to spin imagining what it could be. Clive Barker could have been inspired by being frightened as a child. People who have been scared of the dark can imagine all sorts of terrifying things that can lurk in it. And for those who have even worse experiences with fear, who are harried and hunted, it can be something that makes you glad you're alive -- when you've been given a reprieve.
