oh yes

my step-dad passed in '06 nearly two years to the day after we lost mom, too

and THEN my dad died in '10 exactly two weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer

so there's no more parents or grandparents for me

I have made it through christmas, thanksgiving, and dad's birthday

Christmas still beats the shit out of me every year, though

it was my mom's favorite time of year

and she used to go nuts with decorating and presents and baking and it's all gone

no one else can match her

so, yeah

the holidays are tough

Yeah. My parents divorced when I was little. Dad became a preacher when I was older - but I always, always did Christmas with mom. This year, during the service, I realized that I had never gone to see dad preach on christmas. Was going to do it "someday."

thing that really hits me hard is how my brother had his daughter, after years and years of trying, three years after mom died and a year after step-dad

so they never got to meet her

and my Aunt made one of my mom's favorite bathrobes into a blanket and stuff for the baby so it would be like a part of her was there
