I think there are a couple of different types of players, both good and necessary.

like, early on in the Life of Chipper™... she was the only one in the 'hold and there were lurkers but I was basically typing/playing by myself and I quite nearly gave up on her

Val, you, Fey....very prolific. Lots of good ideas, and you're able to shift quickly between mindsets.

Then people like Catnik and me....who take one or two, and nurture them carefully, get to know them, every detail of their lives, likes, dislikes, psychology, as if they were a real person's dossier.

Games need both types of player. It would get boring without the prolific types. 🙂

You do. It's the ability to quickly take a new personality and adopt it. You wear the cloaks comfortably.

The cloak of a new character is itchy to me and uncomfortable until I've worn it a while.

I have to say, I am not sure how you guys do it. The times I have had to play Ice and Jer in the same scene, it was hard to shift gears. And when I finally did, Ice said something that I went, "Oh, shit, did he really say that in front of Jer?" ....but you do it with ease.
