As she starts to tell the story... August sees further down the table the very noble who dictumed Zara. The sidhe lord stiffens for a moment, then glances towards the exit.

OOC who's sitting within subtle touch of August? Like, a gentle fingertip or toe-tap?

(The Duchess on one side of him. And.. well, a stranger on the other. Looks to be a knight nocker)

"Of course, one could consider it a slip of the memory, or zealousness in 'not disturbing' a duke. Or... may haps, it is a matter of gain. Gain, for one who seems a Dougal, but is actually a Balor himself in disguise. Who not only was happy to see if a house sister could be 'cured' of a Geas, but also was promised by a nocker, in exchange for his help in preventing a skilled Librarian and her entourage from interference by issuing false orders and giving crooked counsel... why such a Lord might be quite happy to take the OTHER thing besides Chimerical companions that comes with Dream Dances... their treasures. A trove of Chimerical items, and yes, treasures of power be it minor" The Eshu continues.

BUT.. August does feel 1122 on his sleeve

He taps in Morse "Watch the Dougal on my (side). He cast Dictum on Zara. Possible Balor in disguise."

Tap back 'Want me to bite him and paralyze?-

"Observe only." he taps back.

"A small fortune trickled into hands for helping one's own TRUE house" Tziporah continues

"Your Grace, pardon, the food disagrees with me" The 'Dougal' who bespelled Zara starts to rise.

"A moment, Lord Nathair," The Duke says "I said she could finish her tale" A suspicious look in his eyes.

"Hear, hear." August seconds.

1122 has crawled to the Lord Nathair, sneaking...

and almost IMMEDIATELY he comes back and taps furious on August 'Boot! Cold Iron Dagger!'

"Of course" Lord Nathair says, "Pardon."

And he scratches at his leg.

Tziporah continues to tell her story, naming no names YET but all signs point to but one. She talks of a secret trove of stolen treasures and chimerical items ready to go in one last carriage, meant to be used to escape a very wealthy lord, by sidhe standards. She speaks of stolen records of the Duchy, collected over YEARS, and she speaks how the fellow's missives indicated he was in contact with Darespark the entire time!

August leaps up, drawing his sword, and lunges to put it at Nathair's throat "HOLD, VILLIAN!! HE BRINGS COLD IRON TO THIS TABLE!!"

Rather than panic the RIGHT way, the Balor panics the wrong way and as August lines up with his throat, the Balor draws the thin cold iron from his boot and... it's all a matter of who 'draws' first.

The cold iron throw goes before August gets a lock on the throat point...

(August may try to deflect it with his sword from hitting anyone, but it will take a Dex plus Melee roll with at least 2 sux dif EIGHT. WP may be spent if you got any left)

OOC I don't think the quest so far has taxed his WP too much, I would imagine he has a point or two to spare?

(SURE. I think he only spent one that I saw so he's got another. Go for it. You will need it with those die rolls)

OOC August -was- built with relatively high WP; he had to be, for his origin story. So yes, he spends WP.

August's sword goes wide, and all seems lost but then, the magic of it kicks in... and it moves with the three strike power of quicksilver he has relied on so often.

OOC I think it's IC for August to sacrifice his own Treasure to save another soul.

August and his sword swing twice more even as it goes to the edge of the blade's reach... he taps the knife... but not enough, as it is thrown slightly off course but not enough to stop it!

The Crowds gasp!

A childling sidhe SCREAMS!

Blades are drawn by many but far too slow

And Cauly gapes as her Prosthetic arm with Chimerical overtones is stabbed by the cold iron and destroyed. She has lost her favorite artificial limb, but had it not been for August's partial success, she'd have died! As it is, the cold iron causes her pain by proxmity.
