"I mean, I never want a fight. If he's good at veils, could he see through ours, too?" Looking to Zane as the magic man with the answers.

"I"m cocky, like to think I'm better, but yeah we should be ready for a fight" Zane nods

She chews on her lip a little. "What should I do? Just stay out of the way?"

"I figure you'd cower under the veil with the rest of us" Zane says "But.. if this is stealing your quest's thunder, maybe you should be the one who provides the magic? you were great at re-directing those redcaps"

"It IS her quest" Jonas admits

"No, I meant, if he saw through the veil... I guess that's too close to ill-wishing to plan ahead for." She shrugs. "I just know I can't fight worth a darn, so it's either stay back or run ahead, right?"

"Run ahead" Jonas advises "if he sees through, I'll delay him. THe risk is, it might be likg using you for bait"

"Well, maybe he's not even out today. It could be his day off." A grin.

"Optimism, there's the spirit"

Zane grins and gestures "I put a spell on us, and now he's blind.. I put a spell on us, it'll warp his minnd. When the ogre on the trod tries to ambush, he'll get so confused, he'll fall on his tush! I put a spell on us... and now he's...BLIND"

Glamour flows

"A muck, a muck, a muck." Piper adds in a sing-song tone.

Jonas chuckles

"Better move fast, hope this holds" Zane says

"Let's roll!"

And out they race

And as she enters the trod, she can feel the silver under hooves, the rising glamour of the dreaming hits her like fresh air and sunshine... and she notices the veiled brute of a troll who squints... then his eyes widen, and he realizes prey is trying to get by him. However, She KNOWS he knows, but he doesn't know SHE knows... this means the easy grab he expects isn't going to be so easy.

A whisper to Zane - "Are we veiled together, or individually?"

"Together.." he says..

The ogre reaches for her

She ducks - maybe he's not looking for anyone that short!

And.. it works... "Wait, you saw me? Son of ..." He starts to chase, but that proves to be a mistake, because well, trolsl have long legs, satyrs have FAST ONES

Piper keeps a grip on one of Jonas's hands - it may slow her down to go at his speed, but she's not leaving him behind.

Suddenly Jonas is a snake, winding up her arm for the ride. Good thing THAT'S not her phobia

and Zane races past the enemy troll as well

"Sorry about that" Zane says as they keep running "I really thought that veil would work"

She wraps a hand protectively around the snake so that it can't be jostled off or dropped. "It's cool! I mean, it DID work, didn't it? We're here, he's back there."

"That's more old fashioned satyr speed"

They move on, the trail still looking urban in its way

"Yes, but we'd not have gotten close enough to skip past if it wasn't for the veil." She counters.

"Fair... " He says.. They move on... slowly they travel... and they see billboards, well, dreaming reflections... One flickers and says 'Candy House two winks and a step to the left, childlings WELCOME, particularly plump ones'

"No candy for me, thanks." She says drolly.

"Pass" Zane says

they keep going, other Bilboards flicker and appear "Venus' all you can eat orgy and buffet, try our Virgy platter"

"No" Jonas says before Zane can open his mouth

And they keep going... and they see, not a billboard, but a fork in the road, a litteral one as well as the split. The fork is the size of a trident, wetched at the split

A snort. "Try again." Continuing past the buffet.

"Hm." Looking at both sides - both silver trodways?

Seem to be!

"Okay, the instructions said this would lead to the trod we needed. Once we were on it, less advice" Jonas frowns... but speaks, despite being a snake

She looks to the left, yup, silver, to the right, yup, Silver. The left has the sound of water, but fast, like a river... the right? No such sound

She lightly drapes Jonas-the-snake around her neck like a living feather boa... or rather that would just be a boa, wouldn't it?

"A fork in the road, and unsure which way we should go. Ummm..." She ponders.

"Maybe it's a tuning fork." She grins. "Worth a try...." Stepping up, she gives the tines on the left side of the form a quick tap - and then, the tines on the right. Listing to the tones they make.

The left no longer has the sound of just water, the left fork humms and she can hear the words 'mmmm onsters, river mmmm onsterss...".. the right vibrates and she can hear 'wibbily wibbly wisdom's path... with mmm monsters'

Zane laughs "Ha, it worked"

"SOoooo... River monsters?" She asks with a grin.

"I think we should go with 'wisdom's path' to the right" Jonas says "isn't that the goal?"

A sigh, but she's joking. Despite the gloom of Oakland, and the doomsaying Piskey, and the danger thusfar, she seems far more cheerful now than she has since before the issues first arose. "Right you are, and right we shall be, and right is the way of the going."

"Of course," She says as she steps onto the right path, "The fork COULD be lying. Though at least the notes sounded true."

"Let's just hope this doesn't take hints from Symon's games" Zane says as they all move to the right, Last time I trusted a 'helpful' item in his game, my wizard got soul jarred... until Dagmar's paladin found me on the shelf and broke me out"

"Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeerd." She caroles with a laugh.

Jonas raises a brow at Piper "Don't you know like, fifty indie bands no one else has ever heard of?"
