"Especially not a life partner"

A flash of something on his face as he stands and moves to the bar cart. "Would you care for a drink?"

She tries to read that flash

"Worried about going Seelie? Or was the word 'life' what spooked?" Then she answers "You pick my poison- figuratively speaking"

He doesn't express amusement, per se. Nor does he pour. "No, I am not, although that time of year is coming, damn it."

"Can't stop the wheel" She says "So what spooked you?"

"What caused you to do such a thing, Callidora? -What- could possibly have prompted you to ... to alarm me so? You -know- I have those with grudges. To be .... examined in such a way, for Caesar.... who, delightful boy, charming, and so INNOCENTLY Seelie and who gives so much away....to spout such folderole?!?! At -your- prompting!?!"

"Folderole? " A bit offended, "That was ...at least Tier B level tropes there"

"Who else did he tell, Callidora? The mothers? Their Mountain? How has this...." he pauses, searching for a word ".... fable you've woven grown? How much danger am I in?"

She winces "I.. don't know, and I think you're blowing that risk out of proprortion, but I DO understand how you have a right to your caution and I'll look into it."

"Do not draw more attention to it." Quietly.

"I can look into things without drawing attention to it" She says

"I know."

"I'll be discrete, just to change things up" Ahem . She takes his hand "The babies are adorable and whether you want to admit it or not, they like you"

"You cannot say that categorically." With a tired sigh.

"You'd be surprised waht I can say Categorically" A smile

His head tips back, looking at the ceiling.

"Fine, but you can't deny it categorically either"

He clears his throat, looking forward again. Then to the door. "I should check the Club." He heads towards the door, where his bag sits.

"Why? It's closed" She reminds

"It lives. And the 'Fire."

"Then ..may I go with you?" She asks

"If you wish to check on it, you should. You are the Holder of the Bale."

"You called me back here. Do you wish my company or not?"

Several frustrated minutes pass. "I do. Yes."

"Then let['s go" She says and gets things and goes with him. Quieter.

"We should check on the Club. But .... Damn it, Callidora, that's not why I called!"

"Why did you call?"

"You called first." Said with a sulk.

"Oh... the answering machine. " Realization, and a smile "You missed me "

"Hmph."

"Well, I missed you" She says "Was feeling very sad"

"I cannot -believe- you pulled that.... that -stunt-, Callidora."

"I know, it was rash and rude, and wrong..." She says lowering her eyes

"What on earth did I ever say to make you think that I would welcome this kind of thing?"

She sighs "I pushed my luck. You've granted every wish I've ever had, and so I pressed for another. I got greedy"

A long moment.

"I should not blame you. It is one of the traits I admire about you. I was.... alarmed. That someone was looking so closely and accurately."

"ANd I should have considered that, I worked so hard to make you feel safe around me, in my life, and then I pull this and forget how that might rightfully put you on edge"

"Callidora, I should stay away from children, childlings. I'm not a healthy influence." Seriously.

"You really believe that? " She asks curiously

"I do." Firmly.

"I'm not sure i do, but I will be near you when you're with them to be a check on you"

"And on them?" Eyebrow.

"Of course... I'm gonna snuggle the hell out of them"

"And I will keep the homefires burning while you do." He promises.

"You better" She sighs "And we'll see. YOu do know that NOW is the best time to be with them then right? Not like they're old enough to take notes"

"It is an impressionable age."

"You're not that darn impressing that you're brainwashing a Less than week old"
