Zara takes the elevator up to the boggan's floor, basket over her arm.

When she knocks, he is there in a jiffy. "Good afternoon, my dear. Do come in." The place is still a soul-less hotel room, but he's made it smell nice (to most sensibilities) and it's clean and airy. Disappointing for a sluagh, but....

"Hello, Mister Stodgepole. Happy new year. I brought kugel!"

"What a delight! Thank you...." He offers to take the basket and ushers her inside, the door closing with a little 'snick.'

She passes over the basket - indeed, a nice fresh sweet kugel, "mundane" friendly.

He tuts and bustles around. "Come in, come in, let me take your coat, here we are...."

He seats her and moves around to take his own seat.

"Did you have a good holiday season?" She settles, folding her hands neatly in her lap.

"Oh yes. Yule is a quiet time for us, I think. A small gift exchange, and of course, dinner.

"I'd expect nothing less. Did you know that the DeBuke's eat pork for New years?"

"It does not surprise me in the least." Agreeably. "I suspect you don't partake, but I must admit I do enjoy pig products."

"While some things don't... quite work... I do try to keep kosher."

"Of course." Understandingly.

"Caesar joined us for dinner, of course. We had a crown roast, yorkshire pudding, that sort of thing."

"Oh! I've not had yorkshire pudding, but I have read about it...."

"I shall make some, and save it for you." He promises.

"Thank you, how kind!"

"Miriam came home for Yule." She quietly beams.

"Oh, it gives me an excuse to make roast beef." He indicates the usual set up; her food there, his food here, tea pot in between. "How wonderful for you!" He beams right back. "She is well, I hope?"

"Very! Busy, of course. Nockers are always working..."

"Inventing." He corrects with a smile. "Boggans are always working."

"Invention is work."

"And... she does more than invent. Her work is important." She sits up a little higher, chin set.

"That is it." He agrees, his previous comment more of teasing than anything else.

"Shall I, not to steal the title, play mother?"

She easily softens, her mother's honor defended. "Aye."

OOC ahem* "Shall I, not to steal the title, play mother?"

"If you please. You are the host, nu?"

He nods and pours.

"Have you plans for Spring, when it comes?"

"Well... nothing concrete. School and study. Though I suspect I will have itchy feet when the days do start growing. Winter is a time for burrowing, for denning. Books by the fire..."

He fixes his tea, and sips, then nods with approval. "Long nights."

She nods. "I like winter. Long nights are good for dreaming. And reading stars. Oh, many things."

"Hear hear." Sip.

"And your other little side projects, how are they going?"

She smiles. "Well enough."

He sighs. "There is part of me that marvels at your energy and adventure."

"Of course, there is another, larger part of me, that wants another drink and a comfy robe." He chuckles.

"That is for after the mischief is managed!" Another smile. "Oh, I shouldn't brag... no..."

"But you want to, and I'm all ears, and I can keep secrets. You know I can." With a wicked twinkle.

"Did you see the news about the cop who was a neo-nazi?"

"Yes, I believe I did."

That cat grin. "Aye. A whole nest of vipers. Why, two of them defaced a synagogue!"

He shakes his head. "I see. And you had some hand in what was publicized?"

"Oh, I am no reporter." She sips her tea.

He selects a tea sandwich. "If you have need, do let me know? I have the number of several."

"How thoughtful, aye."

"I myself have had a small project in hand over Yuletide."

"Oh? One to share?"
