St. Gertrude's Animal Shelter

The Shelter is a volunteer no kill shelter named after the Patron Saint of Cats. Not everyone knows that bit of Trivia, but the clinic is actually more 'secular' than its name might suggest. It is clean, and someone has done their best to take away a cold sterile feel and instead imbue it with warm tones and a welcoming vibe. Dogs can be heard too.

There appear to be two folks up front, the one in charge a woman in her early 30s.

They pull up in the convertible VW Beetle he's been favoring lately and enter the shelter. He called ahead for an appointment. The two boxes he left in CC's bedroom contained all that is needful for cats, -and- dogs; apparently he's just biting the bullet and being ready for whomever takes her fancy.

"Are you allgergic? It's not too late to knock me up," CC asks.

He gapes at her for a moment, then shuts his mouth and chuckles, closing his eye. "Woman....."

After an encounter with the Shadow Court and caught between Balor and Aesin, it's possible she is feeling so lucky to be alive that she's brassier than normal, "Okay okay...wouldn't be fair to any kid at our age." Amused.

"I have dogs that heel better, and the cats are more likely to keep themselves clean," A mortal woman with auburn hair, the thirty something says from the counter.

With a smile

EBG introduces them, and they are shown into a meet-the-animals space where they sit. "Miss CC, what type of pet were you considering?"

"That's usually my line," The woman says, "I'm Rose, Rose Brown." //"Call me CC," Callidora says shaking hands with Rose.

"This is Emerson." She introduces. While they talk, Rose is indeed leading them back to the animals

Emerson likewise shakes hands and follows the ladies, peering into the animal-spaces with polite interest.

Rose seems an easy going woman, surprisingly low banality, and a master sales woman...why, folks live longer, have less stress, are often healthier mentally and physically, if they have at least one pet in the house. And these animals could sure use a loving home. Were Emerson's boggan frailty tied to animals more than people, he might feel a compulsion to adopt a whole pack of felines and caninines.

Emerson is, in fact, rather nervously watching CC for just such compulsions.

An Aloof Siamese stares at Emerson as if evaluating him coolly. a younger golden tabby scrambles playfully after a toy, still a kitten. A calico cat paces, somewhere between kitten hood and adulthood. An older white Persian mix slumbers.

Assuming CC shows few signs of bringing all of them home. Emerson does allow himself to look over those available. The choice, however, is CC's.

"Cats are all the rage among our set." He mentions to her.

"They are?"

"Well, as much as we have a set, yes."

OOC: was his comment on cats being all the rage to CC or Rose btw? wasn't sure for a sec

OOC Sorry! CC.

"oo.." She winces at a sphynx, "I feel so shallow, but no hairless."

He chuckles. "It's been done, anyway." He rests his hand gently on her back, just a comfort-touch, as they seek a new friend.

She laughs, "The Siamese reminds me of you... you have to earn his affection." CC jokes.

Rose grins at that, "I have a fellow who is sweet but slow to warm himself." Wistful.

"I think all cats are rather like that."

"Some are more affectionate out of the gate, depends on breed, up bringing, but they all have love to give," Rose assures. CC looks over, "A kitten would be fun to watch, but no loose strings would be safe."

She looks tempted to take them all home

Her mate seems alarmed at her expression. "Yeeesssss......." carefully.

"Will Caesar serve, if needed? To caretake? We can also hire someone, if needed."

"True, we will be out and about at the club."

A sigh

Rose chimes in "Well, if it's YOUR club, wouldn't you set the policy on pets allowed or not?"

"An office pet." He observes.

And CC lights up at that. "Good point."

"Health regulations can be... managed." He's agreeing.

"A cat, CC; not a dog?" Devil's advocate, of course.

"Let's see the dogs too"CC says

"Great idea," Rose says leading you back to a larger area, but one with fewer animals. "You know, if you have a House AND an Office, might be nice to have a dog in the yard and a cat by your desk so to speak."

He just sighs.

"Well, we're ready for both..." murmured as he follows along.

Mostly the dogs are mutts! You can get some rough ideas of their heritage, but if you were hoping for AKC registere,d this is not the right place. A Great Dane/Labrador mix about a year old has a beautiful sleek black coat, but she will be pretty big IS pretty big.// A smaller poodle terrier mix looks intelligent but also energetic.// A spaniel of indeterminate heritage mmoves to the back of her area a bit scared of strangers.

And there is a Pitbull looking puppy chomping and bouncing on a ball happy as a lark

A glance will show that he's mentally accepted dog-walking duties already.

CC is a satyress, an emotional creature, and while Rose seems a very nice person, his social dynamics can tell that Rose is not above being utterly manipulative for a good cause. "Yeah, our guys are spayed and neutered, of course and theyr'e dogs, not robots. They have personality, but if you're willing to give them a little food, shelter, and attention, they'll give you a whole lot of love..."
