(His eyes are intent, sharp) "Go on, what were you going to say."

"Don't have to be nice, nobody listening but me."

"Oh, nothing. Just overcoming an urge to grab the woman and shake her." Wryly. "You know, as one does."

"No one dares. Sharp elbows. And you SEEN the teeth on her?" (He rolls eyes, and flicks eyes down, rubbing yellow latex paint off the back of his hand)

"But, you know, not my business. Can tell her you stopped by, ask her to call you, you want."

He clears his throat. "Ah, yes. I have. And yes, please do. I'll take my leave, and you'll take my thanks?"

"Thanks for what?" (His eyes narrow, and he nods, shrugging) "Just the polite thing to do. And sure. You didn't bus here, did you?"

"Can take a break, give you a ride back, you need one."

"Oh heavens, no. I drove."

"I had the basket."

"Right." (A snort, and quick grin) "Forgot. You have a car." (He pushes up and moves to accompany him back to the door, shrugging) "Took bus for years, you'd be be surprised what people bring on."

I rent, mostly. Whatever's needed to suit the occasion.

"Good plan." (He opens it for him, bumping the screen open) "Thanks for bringing that stuff by. Think she'll be glad, me not trying to cook for once."

"Good thing we have a fire alarm, all I can say."

He chuckles. "Temperature control, my boy... it's all in the temperature control. Let it come to warmth, and then heat, on it's own. Lest you scorch and ruin."

"Yeah, well, made sense, twice as hot, half as long. To me, anyway. Patience, I know." (A huff out, showing what he thinks of that) "Thanks for coming by."

"Your welcome.... Ice, do let me know if you decide to move on? I'd like to be sure my friend has someone to talk to locally, and help as needed, hm?"

"Yeah. Willdo. Just here as long as she needs it, is all." (He shrugs, and leans on the doorway, staring at him with a moody half-scowl) "That's all." (This last as much to himself as the boggan)

A sly smile. "Well. Good. And good-day!" He turns and steps down the concrete steps to the path and the car parked out there. Bit of a jallopy, today.

(He lifts chin, watching him go, narrow-eyed. And huffs a sigh, looking down at his paint-spattered jeans, then rolls eyes as he pushes up and turns to go back inside. Making a plain beige ceiling a disgustingly cheery butter-yellow instead)
