Sylvi doesn't want to admit that she really thought it would have turned to dust, too. "That would sure make for fewer questions from the authorities. Come on." And veiled, she supports Dirk on their way back to Goldfinch.

He goes in, mortals arre about but she avoids them by gettinng Dirk through Wudlig's secret passage below to the fire

"Here, grab a seat." Still supporting him, she grabs a few throw pillows with her free hand and puts them on the floor right in front of the balefire lamp. "Settle in." She helps him if he seems to need it, but doesn't if he doesn't.

Sitting dow "I need to ...tell the Chief about the vamp..oh wait, I think Dag's in charge now" A scowl

"Pretty sure that's temporary." She gets another pillow for him. "Why the scowl?"

"Dags had assigments for patrols but didn't give me one" Dirk shrugs

But Sylvi can tell the ommision stung the cap a bit

A frown. "Pretty sure that's only because you already have regular patrols. You know your job, right?"

"Yeah.." A nod "Probably knnnew I work better without the man hamperinng me. I'm a rogue cop, getting shit done"

"Cops can level as rogues?" Jimmy blinks

Sylvi looks over at Jimmy, having almost forgotten that he was there. "Hey, can you grab some damp towels and bring them down? Dirk, you're a mess, but we've gotta get you at least a little cleaned up or AnneMarie is going to freak."

"Sure.." JImmy vanishes

"Ah mom knows i play rough. It's the fact I took out a prodigal that'll freak her out" Dirk ggrrinns "Ha. Got to tell Lupe"

A grin. "Lupe will be impressed. And envious. So, okay, tell me how it happened."

She pulls up a chair and sits to listen.

"Oh geez... Well, I was looking forr a Thallian... figured I best scope out the dreamers, which might act as Bait for them. Not that I set them up as that, but you know , seemed a good hunch"

"Then I check a dreamer... but she's got a vampire attached to her neck"

"Crap. Dreamer okay?"

"Uhm.. seemed to be?"

Jimmy comes in with towels, annd hears this "You'e going to ask me to check on a dreamer, arren't you?"

A blink at Dirk, and then a grin as Jimmy hands over the towels. "I like how insightful you are, JJ."

"Dirk, can you tell him where you last saw the dreamer?"

"Yeah... " he names the place "She maybe dizzy.. you knnow, the lady Piper and Linwood muse"

Jimmy speaks up "On it. I'll get her some juice" And off he ggoes

"He got their dreamer? Oh, hell...."

"She was alive when I left her... honest" Dirk says "Annyway, can't let prodigals at our dreamers. "

"Of course not. You did right. I wonder if it was a loner, or if we've got an infestation."

"Hope it's just one. " he considers

"Afte I heal up full I'll do anothe patrol" he says "or sooner if you want?"

"No, after you heal up, you have to get to the Lodge and make a full report."

"Kay" he wipes at the blood "Sec" He takes his hat off, and wipes with that, a grin forming

A puzzled look for a moment, then a nod. "You don't get to put a lot of mortal blood on that thing, do you."

"You think it's hard being a pimp or gganngta, try being a redcap in troll country... cultural expession is frowned on. The blood MEANS somethinng, it's... a story, the smells linger, the stains tell a tale, no... a history"

She frowns, but not in disapproval. "I get it. I have to admit I don't like it, but I think I get it."

"It's not there to be liked," he shrugs "Don't get me wrong. The boss annd your mom, they'e all right, but it can be hard to be ME sometimes . Feel tied up in their expecations... and ah.. you can't get what that's like"

She starts to speak, then pauses, then shakes her head. "Probably not. Blue privilege."

"Yeah well... I don't go for that woke bullshitt... " A beat "But it does seem to me that some folks have a head start in different areas wha ggot nothinng to do with their own efforts"

She stares at the bloody trophy, then moves away to the far side of the room and texts Piper...
