It's a new day for Goldfinch, and Freeholder Sylvi is happy to see new construction is almost done in record time. The upstairs has bed rooms for guest use, the recording studios are totally rewired and ready to go!

And of course, below, the club like ambiance of the truehold area thrives. She..wasn't expecting the maid

I mean, she's dealt iwth enchanted maids before, Flo for example

But this woman looks like she came out of Downton abby in an old style maid outfit and saying in a faux brit accent "Would your ladyship like some coffee or tea?"

She has been cleaning and dusting

Sylvi is more than a little startled. "Um...hello. I don't believe we've formally met...?"

This woman doesn't appear to be a kinian, just a mortal in enchantedk, and maybe more? "Ima, mi lady, Ima Tyghtass. Here to clean and serve "

Her eyes widen. "I see. And...who assigned you to work here, exactly?"

"Mistress Mendoza" She says, narrowing it down to one of the satyr sisters from the apartments. Which one she's not sure

She folds her arms. "And what were you doing before you were, um, brought into service here?"

"I don't quite recall, bit of a sticky wicket that" she admits sheepishly "But I do remember seeing a woman who looked just like me assuming a nice latina girl was a barista or janitor at this coffee house I stopped by. Oh she was most rude to the lovely lady. Then suddenly I was being informed by MADAME Mendezo to get to work"

Sylvi considers this for a long moment. Then she says, "Did you see where Madame Mendez went? I need to speak with her."

"No madame, I've been working here for the last two hours"

"Okay, well...um...carry on, for now."

And off she goes back to cleaning

"Very good, Lady"

And she texts both of the Mendez sisters, if she has their contact info. TXT: Okay, give me the back story on the maid?

To her possible surprise, it is Leya, the more academic of the sisters who responds

TXT: She's a racist condesending individual, that's her story

TXT: You're the boss.

She grins, unexpectedly touched by that. TXT: 👍

Miss Tightass is not a professional cleaner, but she is slowly making a dent

She turns back to the maid. "Ima, you've got 10 hours left. You'll get three breaks in that time, and I'll bring you some food. Do you need anything else to get this work done?"

"I must say I admit there doesn't seem to be much beyond this duster, not proper cleaning supplies, begging your pardon"

This.. is true! They neglected cleaning supplies! They need a mop, a newer broom, cleaning fluids... crap, stuff to help if the toilets need cleaned!

She nods. "Well, that's not going to work, is it? Okay, I'll go pick some things up. Do your best with what you've got for now."

"Yes, Lady" Curtsey

"Don't..." A sigh. "Never mind. I'll be right back."

She heads upstairs and looks for Piper.

"Wow...um..." Sylvi picks her way through the maze of cables. "How's it going?"

"So... it's the direction of the signal through the recording chain... connecting to the studio gear, which changes the signal to suit our needs, and then the cables that connect the various pieces of recording equipment. It makes sense... in my head..."

She looks up to Sylvi and smiles a little. "I think it's going..."

She plugs a cable into a box, flips a switch, winces.... and hears... static. An eye cracks open. "No squealing this time! That's good!"

"Cool! Progress!"

"So...um...did you know about the maid?"

"The... " She stands, stumbles, and extricates a hoof by shaking off a coil of cables. "The what now?"

"Apparently," she begins, "Leya was in a coffee shop and this woman was giving her grief. Leya says she's a racist, but I wasn't there, so I can't say for sure what was said. Still, sounds like it got nasty, and Leya..." a sigh "...Leya enchanted the mortal, gave her a uniform, and put her to work in the freehold, cleaning up."

Piper snorts a laugh! "That's one way to put her in her place, isn't it? And more hands make light work?"

"Yeah," Sylvi agrees, even though she looks uncomfortable about it. "Anyway...she doesn't have anything but a feather duster, so I'm going to go get some cleaning supplies. We need them, anyway. Just wanted to let you know she's down there. We've got her for another 10 hours, so I want her to get as much done as she can, if we've got her."

"10 hours? That sounds a bit excessive. Isn't a normal workday capped at 8?"

"Yeah, and she's already done 2. I might dial it back to 8, total. And she'll get breaks, food, whatever."

"Hang on." She texts Leya again.

TXT: mmph. Your call. Want me to pick her up in 8 hours and drop her far from the hold? or at least back where she started? Undo the cantrip?

Piper gives her a thumbs up. "I'm not one to advocate for cruel and unusual punishment." She says, her tone now serious.

"Okay, eight hours it is. I'll be back in a bit. Need anything while I'm out?"
