Jess nods. "You should find your Mistress, then."

"Yes, your excellency, pardon" And she darts towards the study/library

Jess walks through the corridors for a while, then out to the courtyard to pace.

She paces... and most folks are leaving her be.

That hangnail really suffers.

About 15 minutes of this and she sees a messenger with escort heading out to deliver to the Duke

She wants to run, get out and get moving, but....

Instead she paces.

And finally, a voice, a familiar one, says "you look like a caged bear" Regent Mitra of the Pitt says "Come on, grab a practice weapon, let's beat the shit out of each other" an offer from the Warrior Eiluned and ... her friend

"Hey." a quick if tense grin "Nah, I'm ok. It's fine."

"mmmph" She mimes a troll brow of doubt, which probably looks silly on her lovely face, but then she smiles

Another very small and short grin; hard to ignore the Sidhe of it.

A hapless shrug , albeit a bemused one "There was an old commercial that went 'Don't hate me because I'm beautiful'.. I'm convinced the marketeer was sidhe kinian."

"Probably." Jess agrees.

"All right. So, business or pleasure or friendly concern?" She offers her friend her pick of conversation

Jess looks up into the night sky, sighs, and then to Mitra. "Um. Business. How're things at the Pit?"

"RIght now pretty good, but it was hectic for a bit. A redcap corby tried to muscle in and get some of our fighters to throw some matches, like organized crime. Threatened family members and the whole shebang. Fortunately word got to me, and it was dealt with"

"Thank you for that."

"As you might say, my liege ' just doing my duty'" She says "It actually turned out to be a bonding moment with our Nunnehi allies. Remember, they hold the Pitt and its contests as sacred... so they were really eager to help stop the Corby."

"I'm glad of that. Has there been any headway with the Nunnehi?"

"Actually, your kindess seems to have impressed those who were and still our allies even more. They say you walk the white path with integrity." There's more but she seems, hestitant

"What else?" calmly.

A sigh "They are thinking Otem should press for himself as your husband and consort again. They say that they would 'allow' it now, but Otem has told them you would not welcome it, and he will not insult you by pressing it. Naturally, this doesn't stop the gossip. Apparently you don't need boggans to still partake of that particular vice. Mind you, for most it's less romantic and more practical and political. Cementing ties and all"

Jess puts her face in her hands.

"I know, I know. Why do you think I didn't offer that till you pressed? Honestly, Jessica, maybe 'I' should marry the guy just so they'll give up on putting you two together. He's a bit..earnest for me but it would be just political"

She gives Mitra a -look-.

"I am -not- suggesting that."

"No, I am" She points out, "It would take the pressure off of you, and would provide benefits to the alliance"

A shrug. "That's up to you. And him."

"mmm" She nods "Well, I doubt he'd go for it. Sorry, Jessica. You're a woman of power, and throughout history, women of power have made folks very nervous if they don't have a masculine attachment." A shake of her head "Really, the patriarchy reeks of insecurity to me, but perhaps I'm reading too many progressive websites"

"Or, not enough."

THAT gets a smirk, "Or not enough" She concedes "Let's see... oh, Sayda is getting more savvy politically speaking, for a childling, and is making Bs in most of her classes"

"That's good! And she's making the rounds? Between holds?"

"Well... she's my heir so mostly she works the Pitt" She confesses

"She should make friends, Mitra. I think."

"Oh, well, THAT she has done. Ellie was nice enough to invite her here"

"Ellie is... a wonder. Good. But I think we should encourage the childlings to interact, play and encourage each other regularly."

"See that maybe on me. I thought with the near bombing and your folks coming over it would be a bad time to give you more to focus on"

"Sorry." sincere "I didn't think about... don't put Sayda in danger, obviously."

"No I should have checked with you ... if you said it was secure, then I would know it was. " A mmm "Maybe I should start sending her here on some courier jobs too"

"The childlings should be... together, um, circulating?"

"Well, we'd want adult escort I'm sure. A knight or chosen thane at the least, but it might make them feel more involved and get them to know the county as a whole better" She nods

"Yeah, sure."

"Come on, let's discuss the idea over some coffee or wine or whatever" She suggests

"Sure." And Jess is led to refreshment.
