The King 'gone native' as it were, is a great friend to the Nunnehi further north. This relates his thoughts on diplomacy, mutual respect, and cultural approaches.

Jess sets that one aside for herself. "Please tell Vali thank you for these."

"Sure. He's had to make room for other books since his Mountain gig"

She nods.

"Honestly? It's kind of funny. He grumbles he's doing a scribe job on top of the 'cool stuff' just because the Chief and Hearth expect him to be organized"

"Grumbles? Huh."

"Oh, I think it's more drama than anything. Uncle Vali is serious about his work, but he does like to stir things up sometimes. Let's see.. besides the census, your dad is doing well. He goes on his runs, comes back to help out. "

She nods. "We talk. Sometimes. Phone calls."

"And you'll see each other on the 4th" She nods

"Yes." she smiles.

"Oh, well, to you it wouldn't be as noticed, but everyone is happy Dagmar and Sylvi are back from Rutgers. And my little brother, Connor will be there . Of course I visited a lot in the summer so I didn't miss him as much as some but I know the li ttle guy missed rivervale"

"It will be good to see everyone."

"They'll be happy to see you too" She nods "Oh, uhm Edelwiess, my dog ? She's pregnant. I finally gave in. "

Jess blinks. "Gave in?"

"Oh, well, Silverwolf deals in Dogs. They're trying to create a new breed of fae hounds? So last year they had Oak breed one of their dogs? BIG girl... and this year, well, Edelweis was bred with a Bernese Mountain dog. There's this kennel mistress there and she reeaally pushed for it" A low voice "Not to her face, but I call her a dog pimp. "

A frown. "Is that fair?"

"Probably not" She admits "But really, she's a touch obsessive about the subject of dogs."

"Hmmph."

"Oh don't do that. Your dad does that when I've not behaved and it makes me feel like I should have done better"

"Congratulations to Edelwiess." Jess offers "I'll tell her so myself, of course."

"Of course, puppies should be soon" She says "She's kind of cranky while pregnant"

She nods. "It takes some people that way, I hear."

"I think I caught Aunt Kerri slipping her the meatier bone when no one was supposed to be looking more than once. I mean, how annoying WAS Sylvi in the womb anyway?" Amused look

Jess shrugs. "No idea. She didn't really talk about it much beyond generalities."

"Pardon, I'm just talking too much now" She has another sip of tea, "Is there something I can do to help Fenix whiel I'm here? I am an Emmisary and that means I should be able to assist where I'm a guest"

"I, um, I don't really know. How's your Spanish?"

"Not as good as my french, but I can speak some" She answers

Jess shrugs briefly. "I'm not sure. It's pretty volitile, many of the Nunnehi who are .... well, not-hostile to us use thier own languages for a preference." She thinks "Have you met Otem?"

"Briefly, looks like he was crafted from Obsidian?"

"That's him. He might be someone to talk to, to learn more. You could try talking to the Nunnehi we captured and have here. She calls herself Foamfang."

"Foamfang? Huh, sounds like a beer guzzling garou"

"No, she's a Redwater mainland Nunnehi, one of the ones making war on us. But they seem to have thier hands full with the Mer off shore." and Jess explains a bit more about Redwaters.

"Weird" She says 'Well, weird to ME. I Guess to them it's normal"

She nods. "Yeah, we have learned to just accept, but maybe not entirely trust, what they tell us. You know. Trust but verify. Anyway, Foamfang tried to kill me, but the redcap brothers caught her and we brought her back here. I'm trying to figure out how to send her home."

"I could flicker flash her straight to an ocean but only if I've been in that part. I don't sea travel as much as Siv does"

"I appreciate the offer but sometimes flickerflash isn't the answer to everything."

A dramatic stare of surprise "Does not compute"

"Mm."

Then she says "Well, okay yes, you're right. But for a direct passage it can be handy and the offer is open. Me? I think I'd make it so she just didn't have guards around. Let her see some of your more likable people here, get to know them? If they're willing?"

Jess thinks about that. "Maybe." she's considering it.

"I think I could sell guards out of sight and others."

"It's a bit of a gamble " She admits

"Still, worth thinking about. Thanks."

"You're welcome. I know you have good advisors, so I appreciate you letting me hone my own skills as an advisor. I may one day have a task like that officially and all"

"Rivervale will be honored by your service."

A blush "Don't go spread that around with them. I don't want to be too arrogant."

Jessica blinks. "I won't say anything. But. They know."

"They do?" She says surprised
