Jessica is jogging, then realizes ...shit! Cupids, incoming!

Then the most amazing thing happens...

Steampunk drones soar down, deploy nets, and capture the chimera! Carrying them away before they can shoot anyone.

The colors of Tweak's Barony are clearly painted on the drones!

Jessica, having taken shelter in a doorway against the onslaught, watches and make a mental note to send Tweak a thank you gift.

More drones can be seen on the job, snatching up Cupids and carrying them away from freehold areas.

Nearby, Jessica hears a voice "Oh thank goodness"

Nevertheless, Jessica goes cautiously. In fact, it's not safe to run so she'll head home.... oop! She stops short to avoid treading on the ...voice?

It's one she's familar with, for the woman works for her. Dame Ash is nearby in another door way.

"Hello?"

"Dame, hi. You too?"

"Jessica?" A head peeks into view, it's her all right "Oh, yes. I'm a grand dame now, bit old to go about moon eyed and smitten thank you. If I must be courted I prefer my brains intact. "

"I think Skyhhook has us covered, though. See any of 'em?"

"Cupids? Yes. They seem swarmy this year. I never I'd be so grateful for nocker tech." A pause "Don't tell Tweak I said that"

"Wouldn't dream of it. I was out for a run but I feel like heading back now. You?" an invitation

"The same I think. Safety in numbers applies. I'll head back with you"

"Keep an eye out." Jess recommends, and the two sally forth.

As they return, they do keep eyes out , and ears for the sounds of fluttering wings...

"On on our seven, distant, but closing" The Beaumayn says

Jessica gages the distance to safety.

If they sprint, they should make it

"Are you up to a sprint?" Jess murmurs.

"Up to an feeling inspired. " She mutters back "Say when"

Jessica watches, looking for the moment.....

She sees the cupid gaining, but then a tall truck oscures it's fight path and line of sight for just a second

They race along, for a moment, she worries her companion is lagging and that causes the long legged troll to glance back and nearly stumble, but she recovers, grabs Ash and they make to the freehold door

an angry cupid screams at them in Spanish "Come and get your love!" Quoting an old rock son which was probably never meant to sound terrifying

Ash mutters "They have not adapted well to the ideals of consent, have they?"

"No." Jess agrees as they bolt inside and shut the door.

thunk arrow sounds against the wood but they're in.

Phobos is there, "Boss, you're safe. You too, Dame. It's been nuts." The knighted redcap looks worried "The bastards got Demos"

"Damn. Where is he, is he ok?"

"Fontaine is working with Tito Woden for a cure or at least a reducer" Phobos says "He's got it bad, boss. He says he and his love were meant to be"

She winces. "Who was it? Who did he see?"
