And so out she goes on patrol.

And finds herself accompanied by Phobos "Hang on their boss" the Knight says

She stops. "Yes, Phobos?"

"Demos told me about the attack. you're not patrolling alone"

"I've been attacked on patrol before, Phobos." she points out reasonably "I called for backup because I took a hit to the arm that might have made me an easier target alone. I'm fine now, all healed up."

"Uh huh. Nunnnehi shaped chimera ? If you'rer fine now then no harm in back up for funnsies"

"There's nothing to say the Nunnehi sent it."

"I donn't care WHO it was sent by so much that it was sent. Someone targeted you. You're getting company until we learn more"

A sigh. "Ok. Thank you for the company." and off they go.

They move on for a time. The usual patrol patter, folks greet Jessica with waves smiles and offers of water or snacks

She smiles and waves back, and accepts the offers not because she wants or needs them, but because it is something they can give her and there is honor in both giving and accepting.

Indeed, her people are proud in their way and like her all the more that she recoggnizes that

So that might explain the small net bag she brings with her, to carry such gifts.

Sir Phobos grunts

They move now more innto a private patrol

"They honor me."she responds.

"Mm" A nod...

they move into more private and dangerous areas, narrow dark alley number 3

Even such areas need the occasional spotlight of patrol shined on them. This is one such occasion. Jessica is sharp and on-guard.

Good thing, because that's when the shadow chimera strikes.. or tries too. As before, it's shaped like a Nunnnehi

Jess repels it as before. "Friend!" she tries in one of the native languages, and then repeats it in others.

Although admittedly, she's new to these dialects and could easily (if accidentally) call the shadow "Monkey!" "Watermelon!" or "Teapot!"

"Invader" it says in a dialect thatt is not local butt is indigiginnnaous

PHobos doesn't bites hard snapping off a limb of it

"Friend!" she insists in that dialect while staying on defense. "Phobos, don't hurt it if you can avoid doing so!" in Spanish.

Phobos spits out fingers "You're kidding? I mean.. okay, Boss, but it's trying to KILL us"

"It says we're invaders, don't give it ammunition." she says. Her guard it up and she paries the blows, but doesn't go on the attack.

"Friend." she says firmly, switching back to dialect.

She may not go on the attack but it does, and she must parry with all her might

"Boss!" Phobos snanrls "I don't knnow what you're saying but it doesn't seem to be listening..."

And that's when a spear goes through the Chimera

and on a roof, a Nunnehi looks down "You truly are dedicated to peace"

An owl feather falls where the chimera was

Jess is breathing hard from the effort (and wounds?). She looks up, nods. "I am." she uses the same dialect.

She reconnizes the obsidian man, Otem? Otum? Omat? What was it?

"I fear the mainland Nunnehi have heard of your attempts" He explains, "They do not agree with us"

"I would welcome a peaceful meeting with them." she offers, looking up.

"They won't give it, we have tried" A sigh

"What -would- they give?"

"Death to you, and us."

"That doesn't work for me." steadily.

"Guess we join in the war thenn?" Phobos says "Blood for the blood gods all that"

"That doesn't work for me either, Phobos, not like that. Although.... hm."

She looks from the redcap up to the Nunnehi.

"What do the owl feathers mean?" she might have to switch to Spanish for that.

She picks up the one before her and shows it to the man on the rooftop.

"Death" He tells you

She looks at the feather, back to him. "Whose?"

"Yours, ours. they're threatening you with war. We have recieveed tthem too" he holds up a feathe rof an owl
