Some folks nearby , changelings and enchanted kithain watch her go even on the streets with admiration. A few clap! The Unenchanted only see a girl with an odd and vibrant hair do carrying maybe a lunch pail.

She might not admit it, but it feels nice.

She loves Silver Wolf, and she knows this is an honor, and... yeah. Maybe it's nice to get some admiration, too.

wilders got to wild, and her task today is a sign of trust and yeah... respect. Who doesn't want some respect? Besides, she ..well, maybe not a friend, but the Pisher she traveled with for a bit seemed cool

For a boggan, yeah.

And yet, as she walks by one of Manhatten's alleys... she feels an odd urge to take it. A desire to see where it goes...

The HELL? Since when does SHE get interested in an alley? Particularly when she's on a project? Someone tried to mess wit her head! And lure her into a dark alley, in New York

A pause, and she squint-glares at the offending street.

Kenning!

Yep. Cantrip cast on the alley to lure folks there. It wasnt' there a moment ago. she suspects someone is in there waiting to nab her or more likely the flame!

She flips off the alley.

Something in her fae soul maybe offended by the.. unholiness of that! Flipping it off, she moves on by ... some scum balls got no rrespect for things! They're the sort of folks who would rob a poor box, or piss on the statue of liberty... or or borrow your tools without asking!!! monsters!

She picks up speed and goes towards the trods she knows of, now sinking underground for real.

Trods are still novel things for her. Exciting and a fresh adventure! She has already picked up a small chorus of Nevers, chiming in her wake.

A voice whispers , "Hey kid... you got a mortal family right? Bet they could use cash... how's 20,000 dollars sound? You help them pay off debts... or maybe get yourself a new car? State of the art Desk top. Whatever, goes a long way"

"In exchange" the whisper says "you 'drop' the lantern... just for a bit"

She bristles. "Furk off!"

"Fah, noble boot licker" the figure hisses, she suspects a sluagh, but some asshole who doesn't have half the class of Lizbet

she moves on finally getting to that trod... and finds another kithain there. A troll she doesn't recognize.

"Firebrand" the man inclines his head respectfully. She notes he has armor and arms, but nothing drawn. he's next to the trod entry.

Normally, she trusts trolls - the twins, Gwen, they're steady and reliable...

"I'm goin' through here."

Chime! Citrine affirms, oh-so-helpfully.

"Of course. Orliak, of the Knights of the way, I'm just making sure no one stops firebrands from taking the trod. Path was safe last checked, but there have been some suspicious types about this year."

A look back over her shoulder and she nods. "There's an alleyway with a whammy on it."

"I'll look into it, thank you" Orliak's eyes darken juuust a bit at the edges, "Have a talk about Firebrands going unmolested with whoever. My thanks, Firebrand."

"Thanks for watchin' out for the other pishers, Orliak."

Orliak grunt nods "Just my duty as a Rover, but you're welcome." And he moves to go to that alley.

And she can finally enter the trod

In she goes! A few Nevers flake off, but not all of them.

She shoots through the Silver like a Comet plunging through the Milk of the Milky way

But soon she sees she is not alone, all about, other firebrands, looking like shooting stars with silver trails as well, carry their lanterns along side, before, and behind her.

She grins. If Art could see her...

She does feel like a shooting star right now, and her spirals glow with excitement.

Someone, probably some satyress in white (isn't that a kick) starts a song that's like SUPER old by now, but seems to fit an army of maidens delivering their precious cargo "She's just a girl and she's on fire
Hotter than a fantasy, lonely like a highway
She's living in a world and it's on fire
Filled with catastrophe, but she knows she can fly away!"

Another voice joins in for the next Chorus "Oh, oh oh oh oh
She got both feet on the ground
And she's burning it down

She got her head in the clouds
And she's not backing down!"

"Damn right" Some redcap girl says as others join in

Thistle bobs her head - she doesn't sing, generally, outside of car karaoke and the shower.

Some bob their heads quietly, many sing getting courage as others do, and some even dance a bit... but all of them feel it.

"This girl is on fire
This girl is on fire
She's walking on fire
This girl is on fire!"

And it's a moment she'll never, not even when she leaves the dreaming, fully forget... to be part of something sacred and powerful , to be entrusted with it. There's no troll here to tell her it's too dangerous! There's no lord or lady to order her to do it this or that way. There's not even a well intentioned grump trying to do it FOR her. It's just her. It's just them. It's just the flame.

"Ba buh-da-dum..." She does add her voice, just a little.

Heh, that didn't sound too bad

Much, of course, beyond that , IS a blur. She thinks she spoke to Dyna again on the travel, and a Piskie girl who talked about some asshole trying to mug her. Who does that? But it's good, it's all good, they're on their way to the holds that love them, or at least that they trust.

And Thistle finds herself stepping into the Autumn World again, near the gates of the trees, only a mile or so from home
