Father Pace is as good as his word. After Dinner, the exhausted Priest goes to sleep. Oak lays on his good side next to Frank on the gear he got for both. Frank managed to clean the wound, a shallow cut Oak should be fine now that infection is prevented. There are chimera in the apartments he hears, but he doesn't see any and they don't come to the plain room. Frank is used to sleeping where he has to, and soon Oak is against him . He's a good dog

As he is about to doze off, Frank gets a text from Vali: Text: Frank? Are you all right?

Frank fumbles with the little buttons but types back "Sorry Vali. Yes. Baron has hammer. I have Adam."

TXT: Adam? Wait. Adam Clay was in danger?

Mearning a non changeling mortal

TXT: And the Baron has the hammer. Damn it. He just seized it?

TXT: Yes, Adam Clay. I am at the apartments and will watch over him, take him home tomorrow. The baron has the hammer; we were in his lands and he assisted us. I offered him the option to take it and he accepted.

A long pause then

TXT: Glad Mr. Clay is okay. The other thing...may cause complications . There was a reason you were sent after it. Though I didn't know Mr. Clay would be there and am very glad you helped him.

TXT: Didn't know. There were dark cousins with Mr. Clay. Thought it wasn't a bad idea to separate him and the hammer and Baron is an ally. I'm sure we could talk about regaining the hammer.

TXT: Your instructions were to seek the hammer. I got distracted. I will go to the Baron tomorrow. My apologies, Mtn.

TXT: You were true to your House. And things are and were vague even for me. I should apologize in return. It maybe perfectly fine in his custody. And he's a good man overall . I will make the overture myself. You get Mr. Clay to safety first and I'll go to Teaneck

TXT: Yes, Mtn.

TXT: Sleep well.

and that's that it seems

Frank.... does not sleep well.

Oak seems to sense his distress, and stirs

a warm snout on Frank's belly, canine eyes

"Mmm." Frank settles on the floor, puts a hand on Oak's head, and takes a moment to call Brekke. [Insert phone call here ☎️ ]

(Later)

Frank did sleep, not well, but Oak did a good job of easing stress.

"A rough morning, my friend?" Father Pace looks at him sympathetically "I should have taken the floor you the bed"

"Again, Father, I would not have fit comfortably. Cold pizza?" he offers for breakfast.

"Well there is a microwave in this room so it need not stay cold . And it looks like someone put paper plates in here" He looks about and finds them "Join me for breakfast. You look troubled. " He is still glowing. It may wear offf soon

Frank frowns a little at that, but dutifully eats a piece of pizza.

"How are you feeling today, Father?"

"I had the most amazing dreams" he admits "I know it is best I forget most of this, but I do hope I remember some of those dreams at least in part. And you? You seem troubled. Please, allow me to be of use to you. Tell me your troubles, maybe i know words of comfort?"

"Father, I thank you. Please know I -do- have people I can talk to about this. But it would not be wise for me to talk to about my concerns. You should forget, except for vague dreams and distant memories. It is best for all of us."

"Never the less, you tossed and turned Something is troubling you, or did last night. Still, I'm glad you have people you can talk to Frank. I hope you do just that. " Second day pizza is still pretty good, "You saved my life. Whatever you are, that sort of love for a neighbor is what our lord and Savior hopes for in all of us"

"Amen." Soberly.

"Ah, you are a believer. That gives me comfort too" he says, 'Please though, do remember, whatever your troubles are, that you stopped evil. That is not a small thing, and while I shouldn't encourage pride, God smiles on you for that."

Oak looks hopeful at left over crust, and makes a small 'urf?" sound

Oak gets the crust; he deserves it.

Father pace gives up his as well "Yes, of course, my apologies; you also saved me"

Oak is a gent, not risking biting fingers, but wagging furiously as he is rewarded

"An amazing dog... A great Pyranees , but there's colors to the white of his fur, almost egg shell blue tones if I look out of the side of my eye, and he seems very smart"

"He is."

'Wuff"

A laugh, and the father gives him another piece of Crust

Frank kenns the man.

Frank rummages in his bag and finds something to jot down his name and number. "Father, when we get you home... where are we heading?"

"Oh, to the Cathedrel" He'll say "the one i mentioned earlier will do. I have a small cabin near there"

The left over pizza isn't bad, and soon it is finished. Father Pace asks "Frank, are you sure you're not in trouble on my account?"

"I am." firmly.

"All right. " He accepts Frank at his word "How much longer do you think this will last? I feel I've trapped you here"

"No, Father, we'll be leaving shortly. The more you are out and about in the world, the sooner you will return to your normal senses. But will you take my name and number? I'd like to stay in touch."

"I'd be delighted" he says
