"You know better than I" She concedes "I just don't like how passions run from protective to hateful so easily these days. " She then chuckles "I realize Fiona can fall into that trap too. Hey, change of subject, you want to go out to dinner? My treat."

August stifles a yawn and rubs at one eye. "Thank you very much for the invitation but ... I'm not sure I'd be much company." with regret.

She kisses his cheek, "Poor guy. Okay. Rain Check? "

"Of course, it would be my honor."

"We'll see if we can get Coradel to join us. She's been pretty busy too. " A nod "She had to turn me down for a mani pedi a few days ago"

His brow furrows "Is she feeling well?"

"Paperwork, ruling, and one of the.. oh, you don't know, Samson, her favorite horse? He's sick. She's been at the stables three times a day over the vet and emma's shoulders"

"How did I not hear of this?" August stands, putting his desk to rights before stepping around it "I should go see him. Her. Them."

"Probably because 'I' didn't know about it until I asked her about a mani pedi" An assurance "And you were on a that case"

"Still. Will you excuse me?"

"Of course!" She nods "Just don't beat yourself up about not knowing. "

He nods, distracted, and heads for the stables.

And yes, soon he sees the stables nearby that seem to have a lot of staff on full alert
