August is getting hugged by a client! "Thank you"

Of course, we should give context! He was just helping a woman who was unfairly fired! Her ignorance of the labor laws is something her employers were counting on

August chuckles. "Really, Ma'am, it was (attorney) who won your case. I just made it easier for him to do so, and it wasn't difficult. I'm glad you succeeded."

"He told me you were the one who looked up that law for him and I'm grateful to you BOTH " She smiles "The health insurance alone is.. it's a literal life saver. "

"I'm glad." he says, grey eyes warm.

"My daughter can keep getting her meds now, because we can afford it" She parts from him "you're both good men"

"Thank you very much, and God bless you and your family."

"From your lips" She says and withdraws, eyes still wet with happy tears

"Mmmph" The lawyer on the case, one Mr. Albert Towhee , watches her go, "This one almost makes me feel warm and fuzzy"

"She should, sir. You did a wonderful job."

"Oh you earned that hug " He says "And good thing, beats giving you a raise" Dryly "Fine research, quick too."

Mr. Towhee and he are walking out as they talk "Don't lose that sense of satisfaction when you get to practice and bring real justice for the little guy. Some days, it will be the only thing that keeps you going and it's all too rare"

"I won't, Sir, thank you."

A nod "Enjoy your afternoon . I'll let the others know you performed well"

"Thank you, sir. And, you have a good evening, too."

They separate and ...August makes his way to his car.

August shakes his head; it's not like he didn't do his research when applying, interviewing, and accepting. He tosses the card into the car's trashcan (of course he has one) and drives home.

Some would call him a fool, but he knows what he values and he gives his all to that
