She shakes her head at Zara

"Are dragons always as difficult to understand? They're as bad as cats... or as good as cats, perhaps." But he looks a little frustrated.

"It isn't in this library?"

She huffs then says with effort "The book isn't in this library, ist isnt' in any library. It belongs to Sir Sergei" Then sassily she adds "meow"

Jacob breaks into soft giggles

"I am sorry, Miss Dragon. I will bring you something you haven't read before when I come back."

She perks "Oh fickle heart" A confession

"I am going on a five part quest. If I find a book along the way you'd like, I'll be sure to bring it."

"Can I come?" Jacob says without missing a beat

"Sorry. It's going to be boring. It's a quest from a troll. So probably just protecting and grunting a lot."

Back to Zara, he sighs. "I don't know Sir Sergei. And I doubt he'll lend a book to a random slug. Maybe I can check other libraries along the way."

"Mayhaps. And maybe I could cajole August or Siv into getting hands on it..."

Jacob mutters "Grunting and protecting?" He makes zzz sounds

He brightens. "Siv is a good idea. She was knighted here, and can honestly say that the intent is to look for lost treasures. It may benefit his house."

"I don't know your Baron that well. Or at all. I've seen him around, but he's always so... focused. Either in a book, or..." A small flush. "On the Baroness."

"August is an old friend."

A nod. "If you think he'd help, I'd appreciate it." A small smirk. "If we sent Siv, chances are though that she'd come back after adventuring and already finding the treasure, though. Maybe with a new scar to share."

"Not unforeseen, no."

"Siv has a talent."

Jacob says "Yup. Better not tangle with her or she'll make you a baron somewhere" A warning

"Oh, the fallout here might be interesting..."

He shudders. "Miss Zara, are you comfortable with me leaving this with you?" Both the list, and the treasure. "I destroyed the original copy so hopefully she won't know I took it."

Zara nods. "I have the means to conceal them both."

"I feel like I'm dumping toxic waste on your doorstep." A sigh.

"cool" Jacob says "mutants arise"

"I dislike it, but I have, I think, better tools to study it than others."

"Treasures are difficult to affect with magic, without proper affinity."

"I shall keep you informed."

"Comeon, partner, Let's go" Jacob grabs his cap

"Much obliged. And I call "not it" on the other 3, if it can at all be arranged." Trying to make humor on the dark situation. "But I would like to see that book. It might help mend fences. And a fence between me and Nadeen might keep us from killing each other."

A snort. And he ruffles Jacob's hair. "Next time, flyspeck."

"Awww"

"I promise, we can visit Lily after Thanksgiving..."

"Shalom, Symon. And thank you, from all of us."

And off Symon goes

Jacob looks at Zara "would you belive he thought he failed when he had 'just' the note? I think the trolls got to him"

"They are a difficult influence, aye."

"Yup. Your kids are probably going to apologize when they spy on people, WHILE they spy on them" Smirk

Not a disagreement.

"Well, their uncle will have to be a good role model."

"Well talk bargain later" A smug look

"Come on, let's get you to Miriam. And to Scarsdale in the morning, nu?"

"Okay" he rises. Then waves "By Bronte, by ladies. Thanks for the help" And he follows his sister
