The Witch of the River walks along her spare house here, adding extra books that she has double copies off back at Earth Runes

The Witch of the Flame has opinions "Samhain is gonna be busy. You know how many dreams of witches arise then?"

The River smiles. "It's nice, isn't it?"

"Mayhaps some shall find their way hence."

"Between the Field's farm and your library, I sometimes feel I'm the only one of the three furking working heree. Typical, nockers have to get their hands dirty while o thers goof off. I suppose I'm stuck on reception duty if any do find their way of that night?"

She grouses a bit, while Zara, who is used to nockers , has time to put her books away

She raises an eyebrow.

"Clearly, you need your own workshop."

"I've got my own place here. I'm here visiting you, you're furking welcome, and filling you in..."

"But it's what I get I..."

A knock on the door of Zara's 'hut'

"Just because you don't see me doesn't mean I'm not here." She peeks out the window to see who is knocking.

Lily! the little girl is staring at a cup of tea leaves in her hand

She moves to open the door.

"Miss Z.. I mean, O River Witch, I seek your counsel" The little girl whispers

"Mmmph" the Flame Witch observes

"Come in, Witchling. Take a seat, and tell me what has inspired thy trip."

Zara is gathering three cups for tea.

"This did" She holds up the leavings "I can't read it quite, but it feels important."

"Aye?" She extends her hand for the cup.

It was a reading all right. Pre Samhain.. and it smells of...did someone unleash with this?

Yes, it kens like they did.

"Kid, what did we tell you about Unleashing? And on a soothsay no less" Flame hmmpshh

"That it's a ride." A wry smile.

For a moment, Zara wonders if the marking indicates the return of a sluagh soul, surely a cause for celebration, but no, though it is sluagh specific... five fingers out stretched, the mark of nox...

AH my word, it is a sign of a sluagh treasure....

She turns the cup around in her hands, studying it intently.

While sluagh can transmogrify themselves to fit into nearly any crevice or opening, there are times when even the most flexible sluagh will find herself stymied by a locked door. For those moments, the Gloves of Night come in handy.Appearing to be simple black leather gloves, the Gloves have one unique property that plays upon the
sluagh Birthright. After a point of Glamour has been spent, the flesh of a hand within a Glove of Night can be liquefied or solidified at the whim of the wearer This allows the sluagh wearing the gloves to remodel his digits into claws, suction cups or (most importantly) lockpicks. The Gloves also allow their wearer to chose the consistency of
his newly mutated fingers — this provides enough rigidity for a fleshy lockpick to turn tumblers without lacerations. The effects of this crafting fade in under an hour once the Gloves are removed, but as the Gloves themselves reshape themselves to be skintight with the flesh within, there's really no utilitarian reason to ever remove them.
Zara may not feel a need herself, but the are rare! There are only 13 sets of Gloves of Night in existence, with each Court known to possess of six. The whereabouts of the last pair are a mystery to even the eldest and best- connected of the kith..

"Some kind of treasure" The Witch of the flame says scratching her jaw

"Really? What kind?" the little girl says "Why would they be important? I asked the Dreaming to reveal a sluagh secret.. a nd it told me about.. that, whatever it is. is it scary? is it precious?"

"It is precious. And... not scary, but useful."

"It is ours."

"Do you wish to seek it?"

"Well, if it belongs to us then one of us must find it" the little girl says loftifly "One never knows when some Varich might try to pinch the silver"

"Ain't just the Varich" The Witch of the flame reminds the little girl "Nobles period tend to assume they get to be the keepers of treasures"

"Indeed. But the Varich, moreso."

"I believe you may find the treasure suits you, Witchling."

"Truly? Can you help me find it? This only revealed it could be found" Eager bounce then, remembering her manners "Of course, we might discuss your aid and the proper due for it over tea"

"I may be willing - but indeed, my aid is not free."

"Oh, of course not" the young sluagh agrees, "Proper discourse means one never does anything as tawdry as assume charity" A sniff "The worker is worthy of her hire, as Baron August might say"

"Huh, that's one thing our kiths agree on" Flame looks at River "Need me to scoot my ass out of here for sluagh biz? Or want me to sit in on this tea?"

"Well, it would be rude to ask you to leave..."

The nocker rolls her eyes "I give you leave if you need to ask it. Or I can give my two cents and stick around. Either way"

A soft sigh.

Lily covers her mouth, a bit amused at her elder's understandable frustration

Flame sits down and sips tea "Fine, let's talk shop"

"Well. Thy two cents, Flame?"
