"C'mon!" Briar is tugged along - Amity doesn't seem to be particularly worried about being close to a redcap. Besides, there's berries to pick.

Briar had been distracted by a hole in the ground - maybe an animal, maybe just a hole, but suddenly she is pulled along. A momentary flash of annoyance at the tug, but before she can grumble or growl, she hears Glass going BOWOOOO!

"I hear BERRIES!" Briar crows!

"Is that a special sense? Like dogs and whistles? Do berries warble?" But she's following Glass, too.

"Be glad you can't talk to birds, for sure, they're SUCH a ruckus in the morning. 'Lookit ME, Lookit ME!' and 'Kids, it's time for breakfast!' and 'I'mmmmmmmmmm UP I'mmmmmmmmm UP!" Her voice bounces musically, mimicking birdsong.

"COCK A DOODLE DOOOO!" She yells.

"And, uh... RAWR I'm a VULTURE! Gonna eat yer BONES, tweet tweet!"

"That's 'I'm hot shit!' in Rooster."

"Do you know there's a vulture that eats bones? It swallows 'em whole like a redcap."

"Noooo! Wow!"

Inadvartantly showing that yes, she DOES sometimes listen in school as she tells the tale of the bone vultures....

"They must be, like, super huge? Like you know how snakes can unhinge their jaws?"

Briar rubs her jaw thoughtfully. "I've never met one."

"It's important to have a bucket list." She nods. "Meetin' a kickass bird should ALWAYS be high on everyone's."

Briar gives her a half grin. "You got me, eh, lets say almost halfway there. You don't suck."

"You're loud and awful and mean." Earnestly.

A ruddy blush. "Aw, thanks. I also bite!"

"Bet!" A whistle. "So - we're friends?"

Briar stops and eyes the pigeon for a minute.

Then, she goes HUAAAAACK and spits on her hand, holding it out expectantly.

Clearly, some sort of test!

"Hawk-tua!" She spits on her own palm before grasping Briar's.

HUGE grin and a shake. "Sure, whatever!"

Amity smiles brightly back, pleased as punch.

"Lemme try the berries first." Briar says, shoving Amity out of the way, rude but not too rough.

"Sure. If they're poison, you get dibs."

Then she begrudgingly says after the first mouthful, "dese ain't..." SWALLOW. "Ain't poison. YOU gotta watch out. You don't have a strong gullet n gut like me."

"Nuh-uh! I eat LOTSA trash!"

She grabs a stick off the ground and draws a rough sketch in the dirt.

"If you see berries that grow like this..." vaguely recognizable as a long string of berries "And are WHITE like a snooty sidhe bitch's pearls, don't eat em. The same plant grows red berries too, like BRIGHT red like fresh blood in the same like, string pattern. That's baneberry, and it'll kill you DEAD."

She leans in, wide-eyed.

"Lots of those in Des Moines..."

"They grow here, but the DeBuke's have cleared most of 'em out around the farm. We got 'em up in New York too. I like how the white ones look like eyes, at least until you squish 'em."

She picks some huckleberries until she has a good handful to nibble on. "You're from New York? Is it awesome? Did you know there's a pigeon mafia there?"

Then a thoughtful look at Amity. "Birds eat em... but you are not REALLY a bird. So don't. You hear me?" A huff.

"yeah... I'm from NORTH New York though, it's even more treesy than here."

"I'm at least half bird." She pops a berry into her mouth. "buuuutttttt I don't like'em anyways. They're not tasty."

"Not that many trees, unless corn was a tree. I've climbed, like, forty-seven percent of the trees already."

A grunt as Briar breaks off an entire sprig and runs it through her teeth, stripping berries and leaves alike.

"You could come to my new york, but there's not much to see except trees. Trees and horses. Horses and dogs. Dogs and hawks."

"And your troll?"

"We don't even have HOGS to slaughter."

"Oh, I won't slaughter Gwen. She's useful."

She scoffs. "Egregious oversight."

Thoughtful, "Not sure I COULD slaughter her, even if I snuck up. Her skin is made of stone. Maybe I could bite through it, but she won't let me try." A huff.

"Pretty sure pigs'ld eat people if they got the chance."

"Oh yeah. Down to the teeth. I threw in a carcass I found once and they et it all up. Boss got mad about that though, said folk'll not understand sausage that et meat."

"Stupid, I tried to tell 'em. Chickens will eat meat if they can catch it. They're as good as mousers as cats, if they could climb they'd be better."

"But... like, if pigs are made of meat, and they eat meat, and we eat pigs...." Squinting. "Is this like using the wrong marinade?"

"Right? I don't get it. Food is food."

"Oh, cats are assholes. So smug."

"Do you eat chicken? We gots a pooka, she won't eat ANY meat. Genr'ly she doesn't mind it being on the table, except we don't get rabbit stew anymore out of, whatsit..." Brow wrinkle, "Consideration."
