Amity notices her mom is looking over a lot of houses online... they look NOT midwestern, more... New Englandy? What happened to Old England she's not sure.

"....How come Iowa isn't, like, New Sweden?"

"I think because Minnesota called dibs" Her mom answers

"But... but they're wasting their dibs!"

"I would agree, kiddo, but not much mama can do make people think clearly. A nocker's lament that." She eyes another picture , a VIctorian appears "Mmmph wonder how easy that would be to slather down with solar panels?" She muses "Maybe the Colonial /Adam's hosue" FLilp to that one

She curls her hands around the back of the chair and peers over her mom's shoulder.

Her mom does not prevent this, and Amity gets looks at the difference between the one that looks like an English Ghost comes with it, and the other that looks like bank robbers will try for it.

"The baby hates stairs."

"UGh, yeah, " She sighs "Ive never been fond of Ranch styles but I'll expand the search." SHe pats her daughter

"Don't worry, your dad is looking for interesting ledges for your landing and take off pads."

"I don't mind." She reassures.

"Honey, it's okay to hope and want for yourself some as long as you don't think yours allow you to step on others. Now you don't step on others... so it's okay for to have a 'wish lilst' even if we may not be at our full genie power, yah got me? If you don't speak up for yourself sometimes, others will thrive on your silence."

"No balcony?" A wistful lilt.

"Heck kid, ever hear of a widow's walk?" She clicks some pictures and shows one, "It's related kinda. A bit old school but I can alter soem stuff."

"Or trees. Dad would never build me a tree house."

She remembers the time she tried to build a tree house, but built it on an artificial tree. Her daughter had given her a look that seemed to say 'you may have missed part of the point'.. since then ,she leaves tree houses MOSTLY to her husband with just a few touches, "Tress block the sun, but they also provide shade for us so we're getting some of those if I have to steal some and plant them." She nods "And at least one tree should be a good tree house."

"Trees are punk-rock, too! They USE the sun!"

"Yeah, they do... your mama will match them one day though, Photonsythatech is gonna work grand." A certain look in her eyes.

"Why aren't solar panels green then?"

Her mom grins "I could tell you but it would take an hour with some words you wouldn't furking understand..."

"But new words are delicious. I like them with butter and sugar and cinnamon."

"Good on ya, even things we don't understand can teach us a furking lot, like where the hole is in our knowledge. " And so her mom goes into a detailed explanation of reflective qualities of solar panels , the way the materials they have to be made of have some limits.. FOR NOW... and experiments to expand that...

Amity peppers the explanation with more questions, soaking it up like a sponge.

Rather than growl or grouse with impatience, her mom back tracks gleefully, like a craftsman who knows sometimes you got to ssmooth the rough spots to have a better finalized result. That's raising kids for you, be GLAD when they tell you where they want a bit more work.

It's possible that some of her questions might spark some ideas - why couldn't Nessa do it that way? Just because it hasn't been done before?

Nessa ponders "Well, now that you mention it, a suspended plant in gas state might help with the particulates that... huh..."

She makes a note... in fact, her mom gets side tracked!

this happens sometime, Amity has noticed.

The pooka gets a pencil and tablet under the nocker's hands.

She takes it smoothly and keeps writing with it...

There is a smell though, distracting... something like... seeds?

Now just because she turns into pigeon doesn't mean she has to like seeds.

Mom's good - she'll be busy for a while. Which leaves Pidge free to investigate!

Heading out of the guest area... Amity sees something that may cause alarm. Oh.. at first it is GOOD news... for that, on tray, is a seedcake!

And clearly it was heading towards her.

A soft, inquisitive trill.

The down side? Les, while a good brother, IS a redcap, and he is homing in on the tray with the cake on it.

The troll kinian who has it goes "Hearth said this was for your sister, we got a different cake for you, Les." / "Yeah, but... THIS is here, and that one isn't." Les grins and licks his chops.

Les could eat that whole cake in one bite.

"It'd get stuck in your teeth and then dig around your gums and then take root and then you'd have chicory growin' out tween your molars."

The Kinain looks relieved "Here uhm.. take it" An unspoken 'before your brother does'.

"Dunkin' sheen." She nabs it!

"Gimmie," Her brother makes a hopefully PLAYFUL lunge.

A warble or a laugh, coin toss about which, and she takes a tumble away - ready to lead a merry chase!

"Don't hurt her!" The Kinain calls out/ "It' your kind that ruins action movies!" Les flips the Kinian off and chases after his sister "Get back here... I'm hungary!!" Now others would see a Redcap about to rampage, but his sister knows this tone, Amity knows he's being dramatic, so she can be clever. Jack NEEDS a Giant or the theft of the harp means less. The Princess NEEDS a dragon to escape from, or else some KNIGHT will do it instead and ruin the story.

The trickster must outwit the brute while the brute gets close, or where ever is the fun?

Neesa peeks out to this nose, and fights a smile I got a good boy and a wonderful daughter She'll fuss at them making too much noise later.

"You're NEVER hungry!" She vaults the couch, giggling.

The couch can be heatherbalmed later... the memory? Priceless!
