WIth a tapping on the rim, he shakes hte tea inside, stiring it by vibrattion as he hums

Zara watches, magical senses attuned.

He's gathering the name of the tea.

Squint.

then he says "thank you" to the tea, and speaks "Wisdom of leaves, be come wisdom of the Ear...dark truths in a cup, now become more clear. "and he invokes the names of before.. and ever after

And her tea turns into whiskey!

She dips a fingertip in the new amber liquid and takes a taste.

It's whiskey! Corn whiskey to be exactt

"Much better than that Hot leaf juice you like so much anyway if you ask me" Her mentor declares

"Oh, you seek to rile me, Wildheart."

"Little bit" A chuckle.

"Now, you must understand, this was to allow you to see it at work... but it is not something you do lightly in truth. Teaching you was the purpose, not a parlor trick. There are forces that keep whimsical or mad namers in check, mostly because it's better they do it before the Dreaming itself does"

She nods.

"I would not seek to alter the chain if I could think of a safe way to destroy it."

"And... and I am loathe to destroy a treasure. Perhaps I could reorient it that it may yet do good in the world."

"Perhaps you should give it a tighter name? Add more to the name. Make it so it can do that to sluagh, but say, only a rhapsodizer or ravagger?"

"I thought, perhaps, to turn it to Balor."

A chuckle "I rather like that." He admits "But we know neithter of us much like that House. There's a justice in it. Da'ann might approve"

"Rightfully, I should turn it against the Varich... but the Balor are more personal for me, yes. And since they are immune to iron, it seems that there is a kind of symmetry in purpose..."

"There is" he nods

"Young lady, you'll understand if that's the only reweaving I do today? I may do another in front of you with time and preoperation .. but I hope witnessing it in person helps"

"It does."

"I don't feel quite... I suspect trying it might go spectacularly wrong the first time."

"It just might" He nods "You'll want dross, and time, and no distractions"

She nods.

"And start with minor things." She salutes him with the tea cup.

"Not too many minor things.. even with a large number of bullets, Russian roulette is not a game to play with Naming"

"Aye..."

A smile "Zara, not to give you a swelled head, but- I'm impressed with you. As a student, and as a person."

Blink.

"Ah..." Pink.

"Ah, thank you?"

"You're welcome." He says "Now, it's getting close to meal time. Hearth Agnes has some noodle dish that was left to expire at the right rate. Why don't you join us?"

"ooo. Yes, I think I shall."

He smiles, and they rise to dine.
