The boggan flusters "But.." then Connor's whispers comes over ans she gives him a quick glare and ignores the weird puppy boy

Then the spill "hey!" The boggan protests

He looks a bit confused, his ears twitching. She looks mad. Maybe she doesn't like math.

And a slug is deftly plucked up whith a whisper of thanks

"I can share my rocks and leaves, and we can count them together if it helps?"

And a grin over to Lily, his tail wagging once more.

The teacher tends to the mess lightly, then says "Connor, it's nice to share but we don't want to distract each other and.. JACK?"

"Yes?" Jackflap says, one leg out the window

"Are you trying to sneaek out of class?" Miss Puttyfoot inquires

Jackflap looks her over, seeing no falcon designs he says "Noooooo"

"Oops!" He spills the rocks and leaves on the floor. "My golden nuggests!"

An opening, if Jack needs to slip out!

"Oh goodness.." she bends down

He waves to Jack with a shooing motion!

Jack gives that nod of respect , a bond unspoken, and ...slips out

"The new satyrboy is GONE Miss Puttyroot!" Angelyka declares

The teacher sighs looks out the window and says "Jackflap you come back.. oh he's gone"

"He must have been confused by the apples." He offers, carefully filing his leaves into the paperwork.

"Next time try using pies. Or real pie." Ever helpful with the suggestions.

"Thanks enough about pies for now, thank you, Connor" the teacher says in that same tone grown ups get when you've bounced on the furniture ONNNE too many times and definitely should not do it again

A solemn nod. He has sobered now, clearly she got through to even such a case as him

Inwardly, "She must not know how to make pies. That's so sad. I'll bring her some from the Hearth next time."

And so, the class moves on.. not FOR long actually, for it turns out Jack merely escaped 10 minutes early for recess!

Some of the kids are confused.

"Woo!"

"Recess.. like outdoors? My old school didn't have those " One boy says excitedly "I mean, they had 'breaks' but they said recesses were dangerous"

Then he covers his mouth and whispers in chagrin to Lily. "woo?"

Lily taps her earmuffs and smiles

He beams at her, and tucks a crinkly autumn leaf under one of her ears. "Perfect!"

Lily blushes "oh Connor, you are a silly boy. Quite ." But she gives him a brief hug

His tail sweeps the paperwork off the nearest desk!

swish swish swish swish

"Why don't you go outside" the teacher suggests "meet the other kids"

"Will you be lonely?" He asks, turning to gaze up with concern. As he twists, his tail knocks new things down.

"I'll be fine" she assures It'll buy me time to break out a shot of the corn liquor

"Conner" A voice, "you and your friend should come with me, we can compare tails" orwella says

"Oh! A tale of tails!" He hurries out with a last wave. "Thank you Miss Prettygood!"

She smiles and waves him out

Orwella motions to Lily "We're both girls, so we best get to be best friedns forever or dire enemies I suppose but in the mean time we can agree that most boys are very irritatating but we'll tolerate connor?"

Lily nods "I was tolerating Connor before it was in fashion. Besides, he eeps so sweetly when you sneak up on him and tug his tail"

He cracks the door back open! "Psssst! All the good trees are gonna get climbed if you don't hurry!"

The girls move to follow him. They can't let the boys have ALL the good trees
