In the office, the general manager stands at his scribe's desk, talking to the speaker phone. "No, Duggan, I do not want four cases of a rare -vinegar-!! The deal is for wine. I don't care what you happen to have an overstock of!"

He listens to the little voice on the other end, then interrupts. "Because if you do I will find another supplier and be very vocal abput why!"

"Now. ... let's be reasonable." He soothes. "Too much history between us, hm?"

"You get me the wine, as per contract. "

"I will take a case of the vinegar gratis -but- I will feature it on the menu, with credit and contacts for you."

"My staff will push it. "

"And in thanks, you will gift me a discount on .... say, some of that nice beef that you have been aging. Yes, that beef. No, not for the club. Yes, THAT nice beef, the prime stuff. And no more will be said. I will help you with the vinegar and perhaps save your reputation, hm?"

"In fact, I will do what I can to enhance it!" Jolly. "What do you say?"

He listens, and beams. "Wonderful. We will speak anon." He pushes the button, disconnecting.

Then rolls his eyes.

But chuckles. "Steak night at home. Yes, I think so." He gathers his papers and goes to the kitchen staff meeting.....gone.
