The whisper's magic can't affect pure balefire, but the skull? That should be in her power...

"Who were you, when you lived?"

"I was Alyson Planter, when a sidhe soul claimed me. Then I became Aalasandra ap Leanhaun."

Colton scowls at the house mention

Sylvi scowls at the name as well. "Then...how were you killed?"

"Violently."

A scowl, and she mutters, "Not helpful." Then a final question, "Who was your liege?"

"I had none at the end, just the task of delivering the balefire. It must get to a bale, it must not be wasted..." She didn't ask this, but perhaps the balefire inside of it is making it speak so, prehaps an oath "Do not let this flame snuff without reaching a bale! "

She nods, and looks to the other. "That is our quest. Rest now."

The cantrip ends, but the balefire burns

Bertrand says "Well, in a way, this kind of solves something don't it?"

She looks at the balefire in its eyes, then to Bertrand. "It does?"

"Well, there's balefire in this lantern, balefire in that skull..so we have ..uhm, two bales? Netiehr is gonna be as big as firnost or rivervale or whatever...but... no shame in two smaller holds is there?" He says

Colton says "So... who gets the fires for what?"

Kelby grins "You could put the skull fire into the Rivervale flame and make it stronger still. Is that how it works?"

Her eyes get wide. "Wow. Your'e right, we could do that. But...well, Rivervale is secure. We always get our brand. I don't want to get greedy."

"Maybe a sub fief within Bergen under control of a commoner appointed steward ?" Zane muses "My dad says incorporating diversity within a system can strengthen the system."

"Well, unless anyone has a better Idea I guess I better get one of these to the club." The nocker says

"Maybe...." A thought, but then she stops herself. "Let's settle it when we get back. But the lantern goes to the club. That much is decided."

"But you can bet I'll be telling Mister and Misssus CC I expect this to be handled fair for commoners everywhere" Bertrand says firmly

"Wait, it's going to CC? " Zane says 'Oh, she's cool!"

A faintly troubled look, but she nods. She opens her pack and puts the skull inside.

"You know miss CC? Up here?" Bert asks Zane, surprised.//"OH sure, she visits, talks to my folks... You know, as they say, if she were twenty years younger I'd..."//"Strike out hard?" Kelby finishes//"Ouch. Companions can be cruel" Zane says mildly stung.

She frowns. "Ms. CC knows your folks? I...didn't know that."

"Sure" Zane says "Dad's well published and stuff you know. She lives near Firnost and he studies taht too, though he finds it too anarchaic."// Floppsy calls out 'Ahem... balefire burning, Varich on way. Haste yes?"

Sylvi shakes her head, it being all too much to process right now. "Yes...let's go. Now. I'll lead."

"Colton, stay in back, rear guard."

"Got it" Colton says "Everyone remember to clean your weapons."

And they move on, following a trail back to..well, the compas no longer works, but they THINK this is the right way

Sylvi starts and draws her blade, because she did forget to clean it. She does so rapidly. ((Firnost makes the most sense.))

Blades clean! Balefire taken! They march! Zane sings "We didn't start the fire" ...not to do anything more than get a laugh and lift spirits. Which are pretty high. They approach Firnost and as they enter triumphantly into the garden, she looks around smiling. They arrived, from there they can...

"Sylvi..." A low grumble she knows

her father's voice. and the rover stands before them.

She stops short, and her smile fades, and her jaw drops. "Dad."

"Yeah, dad" A raised brow "You know, the Rover? on trod work?

"

"Hello, sir" Kelby tries not to squeek.

A look to the others, embarrassed about what's probably about to happen, but then she faces her father again. "Yes, sir. I...sort of thought there was a good chance we'd run into you, or one of the other Rovers."

"Honey, imagine my surprise when I get a call from the DeBukes telling me to watch out for Balor as Earl had a bad encounter with them, and they'd love an update. Your mom is like 'Maybe we should tell them we can take our daughter back and let her go with Kelby another weekend'... so I pass that on, and their response? 'What, Kelby isn't with you folk?'"

Zane says "Technically sir, they DID spend the weekend togeth..." Olgar looks at him, a withering glare, and the satyr gulps "Nevermind. Semantics."

She colors, then nods. "I know. It...I'm sorry about that. I didn't want to scare you. But we had a good reason. A Quest. And we needed to do it right away."

A deep breath, and he says "I hope it's worth it for you too. Because you know what your mother's going to do, right? She's going to use your full name"

"What IS your middle name anyway?" Kelby wonders

She doesn't answer Kelby. "I know, Dad. And...I'll take the consequences." Stubborn pride.

"Sir, she wasn't alone" Colton says

"Colton...it's okay. This part's on me."

"I work for a living, squire" The big man says, but he looks them over, "You kids are wounded. We should get you all to Rivervale to heal up."

"Pardon sir, but..." The nocker says "I need to tend to something fast."
