Mind you, Moose pooka bites can be dangerous

A Møøse once bit my sister...

"What do we do? " She asks "Go to the Diner and see?"

"Sounds like the best way."

"To the bikes?"

"To the bikes!"

Of course they have bikes, a black and silver one for Felicity. You can probably guess what color Irene's is

You would be right.

And off they go, biking with the power of hope...which means their leg is still tired.

They can take a short cut down a hill but it will be harder control

And they race down Dead Man's drop! But no man are they! They're girls! Rarr.. and they won't tell mom they took this when they find her later! They streak down, avoiding the street light, weaving past the blue SUV which sticks out too far, and getting chased by the gray furred beast (Part English sheep dog)

this gives them extra vroom for what seems extra minutes. Having survived, in the distance, they can see the diner

Irene leans over her handlebars, pedaling hard!

And it is crazzzzy. The near dreaming around it seems to be wild with all the seasons, razor sharp autumn leaves, blistering snowflakes, crazy spring birds dive bombing folks, and Summer grass grabbing at folks!

"It's like a Firchlis in the dreaming" Her friend says "We can't even see what's going on there"

"We just gotta find Mom!"

Irene lets her bike drop, to nimbly navigate the new obstacles on foot.

And Felicity follows.

Grabby grass leaps for their feet, but the nimble piskie dodges... a spring bird buzzes near her ear, felicity opens an umbrella and catches the blistering snowflakes even as the razor leaves make holes, but it buys them time

She leaps, bounces, ducks and dodges towards the diner.

THe door seems sealed, a chimerial face on it "This place is DOOMED for lack of manners! Only a word, a magic word, will open me! You might as well back away now, you'd never guess it in time!"

"Would you PLEASE open up?"

"Oh, a polite kid..." te face says "Did not see that one coming.." the face fades, and the door opens

And there is her mom, kind of! It's like she's a changeling, but not, because her mom maybe in there, but she is not in charge. People, enchanted and screaming have troulbe escaping...

"Sacrifice your tips to me" The FIrbhold says , with her mother's voice and she spears the time clock "LYING DEVICE"

Mom once said the owners here practiced 'wage theft' and that it was a very greedy thing to do. Wages aren't normally purple, or even interesting, so few Piskie would want them

"....Mom?"

The figure turns "I am Kaza, FirBholg , and I will have tribute... the meat about me keeps out the cold. She is ...useful..." A look about "But she has opinions"

Irene SCOWLS, and stamps her foot! "Get out of my mom!"

As she does that, the Firbholg wavers... litterally, like she was in a heat blur in the summer...

And for a moment, her mom's voice, without the 'reverb' speaks "Irene, baby?"

"Mom!" She reaches out to grab her hands. "It's time to come home, okay?"

Kaza's eyes narrow "Ever the kithain assume they can take our conquests, go away, bratling I..." then there's a sound, like a slap, and the mein of the Firbholg shakes free from the body as Theresa tears free

and says "Don't you ever talk to my kid again, you hear me!" And she grabs Irene's hand "Irene, we need to get out of here , now okay"

She sticks her tongue out at the stranger, and pulls her Mom's hand as they head for the exit.

"QUICK " FElicity calls from the door "I got the door wedged open with a pinky hold, but it won't last forever"

Hustling!

"Don't have to tell me twice" Theresa runs

Kaza snarls "I will boil your flesh from your ingrateful bones for expelling me..."

"Get bent" And Theresa yanks the fire alarm as they go, kicking in sprinklers behind them and confusing the Adhene

Felicity lets go of her pinky grip as they come out, and it slams behind them "We gotta get to your car"

"That's no pooka, that's for sure..."

"She's Kaza the Firbholg and mommy owes the swear jar money because of her" The woman says "Grab your bikes and throw em in the trunk before she gets out , I'll start the car" She opens the trunk

Irene doesn't have to be told that twice.
