Nessa kicks into a canter to meet up with her. "Heading out?"

"Oh yes, the coffee shop awaits. Got to make the ends meet' she smiles "And I AM the owner so"

"Oh... well, I was hoping to bend your ear a moment. If you don't mind me tagging along, I could chat on the way? I can make my back back from town later."

"Oh, well, the car might be a bit tight for you, but sure"

"I can manage!" At the end of the day, she is mortal and has a mortal form, though the temporary suspension of disbelief is a little unnerving as she buckles herself in 'normally', and cracks the window for a little air flow.

"I was hoping you might be able to put a few feelers out into Spectral Lights. I've been following up with some of the folk I met there, and... well, I'm told that life is fine, but... things aren't quite adding up."

"Oh, that place" A tut "yes. Was a time folks here thought it was a place to flee too. I think that's changed"

Her brow furrows a bit and she toys with the seat belt strap. "It was just a few things that Alani said. Or more, what she didn't say, like, reading between the lines. Compared to the old Dry Tears... "No droll tolls that heavy." "No childling neglect... on that level." That's not the same as NONE. And a throw away comment, almost... about mandatory parties?"

She shakes her head.

"Oh mandatory parties, yes, sometimes some important guest comes by and everyon there has to dress up and wave while the Count and his guest of honor come through" She explains "I heard about it from Nellie, who has a cousin there ... Bubba Clarance. Well, Bubba does not enjoy dressing up, bit of a slob , and grumbles about it quite a bit hen it occurs. But he admits, according to nellie, it's harder on the ladies. No pants allowed for them."

"Well, dressing up, it's not for every- WHAT?"

Then, an embarrassed chuckle. "You mean dresses or skirts."

"I'm sorry, my brain went... well, nevermind."

"Little Grete here would hate that."

N.B.: She would also hate being called 'Little Grete', but let's take things one at a time.

"Oh goodness dear..." A chuckle at the brain mention "Yes, thankfully they do wear SOMETHING. And Grete would swear vengenace I'm sure"

"That was the least concerning, to be honest, but any signs of the count putting people out for his own... aggrandizement? That's concerning. Would you mind asking around a bit for me? I can make it up to you... say, um." Thinking. "Do you need any help at the Coffeeshop? I can wash dishes, if nothing else."

"Well bless your heart" She sasy it in the NICE way, not the 'you're clearly mentally challenged' way "I could use you in the back if you're sure?"

"Of course! It might be a little tight, but hey, me and mom and dad used to handle in a one bedroom trailer, so... practically roomy!" She grins.

"I did actually want to ask you.. I saw an Instagram post the other day of a coffee shop that served lavender lattes. Do you think there's really much of a market for specialty drinks like that?"

"Oh yes. I've sold some. I don't advertise it yet because I don't have enough to keep up with demand. "

"I can help out with that, if you'd like? It actually grows wild in a lot of areas around here."

"Does it? Oh my we should talk" they park and she opens up the shop

Nessa tries not to jump out of the car, she closes the door gently, but it is GOOD to stretch.

It is! And soon she's lead to the back with some dishes and cups "Thank you, dear. And I'll put my ear to the ground and asked around"

"Appreciated!" Nessa will gladly help out, and is quite good at washing dishes.

Nessa makes a dent and then some as customers go into the main area. About a half hour later, a man joins her "Hey, thanks for helping. I had to help some friends move furniture"

"Oh, sorry! Let me just get out of your way... I mean, I have the afternoon free. I'm glad to keep helping if I'm not holding anyone back."

"Name's Carlos, and you're not in the way, you saved my ass" A grin "But I got it"

"Vanessa. Nice to meet you, and well, if you're sure, I'll get out of your way." A smile as she dries off her hands.

"Unless you wanna hang around .Never said no to a nice girl's companionship, but I bet Hope will get you any kind of drink you like on the house after your help"

She grins. "Well, I owe Hope a solid already, so why don't I help finish this load of dishes and then we can both take a breather?"

"Thanks, Vanessa ... so how do you know Hope?"

"Uh." Brain fizzle for a moment, then, "I, um. I grow plants, and she was talking to me about sourcing lavender for lattes! And, um, fresh flower arrangements for the tables... and some... herbal teas!"

It was spur of the moment, but it occurs to her... I -could- put together some herbal teas if she wanted...

"Hey, those are getting more requests of late" nod "Bet Hope would pay fair for supplies"

She nods! "Hope is a straight shooter."

"She's really the most reliable lady I know. Other bosses, you call in late to tell them you're moving furntiure, they chew your ass out. Not hope"

"Well, that's what friends are for." Nodding at the furniture comment.

"I know, right?" Carlos smiles "I mean, muscles I got."

She smiles, humoring him, but inwardly comparing him to some of the trolls she's seen…

He's fit. One might compare him to a slightly below average troll

She dries the last of cups. “Do you you have it from here?”

"Yewah I got it, thanks again. Hey, I haven't seen you around by my friend is having a apartment warming party kind of... we're allowed to invite folks. You want to come? About 8 tonight"

She considers… not really her scene, but she has been spending s as little too much time at the Hold lately. It would probably be good to get out among mortals a bit…

“I'm not usually one for parties,” a twinge as she considers “mandatory parties”, “but I haven’t gotten out much lately. You know what? Sure.”

"Fantastic" he gives the location and time, "Should be anywhere from four to eight of us tops and most of it will be on the grounds, the super is cool with it"

“Mind if I bring a friend along?”

"Don't mind. I get it. Stranger springs this on you, good to have a buddy, like swimming" A smile
