"Grete?" He calls in the hallway "Anyone seen grete?"

She calls from her room,, "Here!"

"Grete, you lady, you want to take a look at something? I'll protect you"

"Yeah, let me just get this junk off!" A few moments later she has torn off the Sunday dress with frills, patent leather shoes, and gucci scarf, and meets Redfang in the hallway as she's pulling on one of her worn and comfortable boots.

"Had to make a call to Mama for Mother's Day. But now I'm FREE!"

Unaware that a rhinestone studded bow still is in her short hair.

An amused look but he doesn't mention the bow.. yet. The old troll walks up "It's about hte landsharks. "

"Oh! They're...." She tries to hide a guilty look. "They haven't caused any trouble, have they?"

"No, not since you saved them... you kids. "

"Take a look.. stay here.. watch"

A look of mixed relief. "Oh, you know about that. Okay. I was worried we'd get in trouble."

And he moves out into the area awhere the landsharks swim... and they rise slow... and brush against him but do not attack

A look of concern, and then surprise. "They're not hungry?!"

"Oh they're hungry, but it seems we're off the menu. "

A grin. "Can I come see them?"

"Well, the baroness might have my wrinkled blue ass if you get hurt.." A grin slides for just a second on his face "But what the hell..I think I can take them if I have to. Come on out"

She slides off the boulder she was perched on, giving it a friendly pat, and moves across the softer soil towards Redfang. A pause a moment to focus... can she sense where they are under the ground?

She can, her dousing senses one under her..

theres another who has already hit surface, or at least his fin is showing

She holds out a hand to brush against the fin if it gets close enough.

It feels a lot like sandstone, rough, real.. the sort that more girly girl girls might yank their hands back from

"Whoa." She digs into a pocket and pulls out a handful of small agates, ones she was hand polishing. Curiously, she scatters then on the soil. "Do you guys eat gems?"

And they dive... surge, rise

Redfang looks alarmed as they swarm about the Wichtel!

Grete grins, kneeling to press a hand against the ground. "They're SO COOL."

But from Grete's point of view, it's GREAT! She's gets a front row seat to a shark frenzy without them after HER!

"I don't think they even EAT meat. Maybe they only attacked because they felt threatened."

"Or the glamour in us. They are chimera" He says cautiously "But they've decided kithain are friends not food"

"Maybe if we feed them, they could be more tame."

"They DID really like those glittery rocks we found under the crash site. Those had glamour in them."

Suddenly Grete is surfing.. she didn't mean to, but she's on the back of one of the landsharks

"Good grief.. step off that thing if it goes too far"

She wobbles and reaches for the fin to steady herself.

"I'm... like... surfing?! But without the stupid water!"

"I see that" He says "you realize that if you end up in another county the baroness is going to chew me out worse than any landshark every could?"

And yet, this is FUN! No water! Shes' slipping over rock, soil, and sand

She laughs. "But it's FUN!"

Fortunatley the landshark she's riding on curves rather than carrying her in a straight line, and she does start to circle back. Before she returns, it submerges, leaving her 'just standing again' but , with her dowsing, she can feel another rise and step there. In theory she ight be able to switch or hop from one to another

Grete DOES! She steadies her feet, steps up to where she feels the rise, and takes hold of the new fin. "This is AMAZING. Can we keep them??"

"If they're not attacking anyone, I suppose so" he says "i'll bring it up to the Chancelor or Baroness"

"Maybe we could mark their fins to tell them apart... like paint or something, not anything that would hurt them. I can bring them rocks I've polished. It's not like they really hurt the stones, especially since I bet they poo them out as new ore." Suddenly curious about the biology of sharks...

"Well, be honest kid, you're over my head with this. We can try"

"Let's talk to Sparrow first. I don't want her to get mad... but I think she would like them!"

"If you tell her painting is involved she might try to get them to hold stil l until they look like some hippy microbus with fins"

A laugh! "It's a plan."

The sharks do eventually finish feeding.. and go back to lazy circles

"Guess you girls workinng to save them imprinted .. darnndest thing" Redfang says but he adds "Good work"

"Not just girls. Stu and Ryder helped too!"

"True" he nods "Good lads"

"I can't wait to tell Sparrow."

"If you see her before I do, feel free" he nods as they go back inside "You girls might gget to finish that little fortress you wanted so badly"

BIG GRIN. "Yeah! 'Specially if we can ask the Sharks to protect it rather than be a menace. I mean, menace in the right direction. I bet Ryder could make a pellet gun to shoot tasty rock bits towards the bad guys, and it would be like chum in the water!"
