"Even so." A smile. "Hope really is the best, isn't she?"

"She is. I couldn't do any of this without her."

A moment to gaze out over the railing at the night sky again. "The stars are beautiful tonight. Dame Otha said she was going to read them... what do you see when you look out there?"

A sigh. "Freedom. I love the sky in all its moods. I never feel wholly comfortable in my own skin, down on the ground."

"Before you could fly, did you ever ride?"

"As a fledge, yes - the hold of my fosterage was, mundanely, a horse ranch."

"If you ever feel like it... it probably doesn't compare to flying, but there are horse-trails around here and mount rentals... and I'd love to go for a run with you sometime." A small grin. "Probably more likely than me going flying anytime soon!"

"I don't have wayfare - but I bet you would love windrunner..."

"I think, when flying... I dunno, I don't have to be anyone. I don't have to fit in anywhere. It's the only place I feel right."

"I worry that even with magic, I'd be afraid of falling without wings of my own to hold me up. Maybe if there was a bridge, like the night of the Yule star... I thought I saw, in the sky..." A sigh, remembering and marveling.

And she nudges the Baroness a bit. "Now you sound like a chicken. You're home."

A slight flush, wondering if she misspoke - but it IS Carnival, and she's allowed to speak out, right?

"Oh, when you are fledged.... there are sky trods! Great silver bridges!" A blush and a rueful smile.

"It.. it is becoming home, isn't it? "

"That sounds LOVELY. I..." A touch embarrassed. "I know it sounds silly, but I feel... lumbering, sometimes. And the thought of running thought the clouds sounds nimble and graceful... more like a unicorn than a plowhorse." A soft giggle, laughing at herself.

"It really is." She agrees.

"Oh, no - you are no plowhorse. An Arabian, maybe - fine-boned, swift."

A laugh. "You're sweet. It's hard to feel that way sometimes. But everyone here is sweet. And Pepper related about how hard it can be to find lady's dress shoes in a size 13."

She nods. "Seen that with other trolls... and, of course, sidhe cheat, so it can be hard for us to understand. So, well - just remember, it is magic that I always have good hair."

"Even with feathers in it." She leans over, and plucks a fluffy white one - NOT Sparrow's own, but from her costume, out of her hair. And tucks it behind her own ear.

A laugh.
