Sparrow makes sure the front doors are open, that guests are welcomed and hot drinks are served. The cookies may be chaotic, and the yule tree's ornaments might not all match, but the hall is festive and bright and warm!

Some say Yule, some say Christmas.. it's a disorganized mess

Grete is wide eyed, and her mouth drops open.... and a cookie gets put into it to forestall her incredulity. Last year when mortal carolers came by, the Baron was annoyed and had them fuddled to get lost on a mountainside trail. Sparrow EVIDENTLY has her own ideas....

She applauds the song, and encourages the childlings to sing Rudolph the Armadillo...

Folks bring in food, small gifts. gifts for the baroness!

It seems more folks are looking about the hold, spreading. Surprised.

Sparrow tries to say hello to everyone, to learn names and faces. Everyone gets fed, even if it is small and snacky food - cheese & crackers, tiny meatballs, so many cookies... no grand feast.

For many, this is the first time they've been here without being escorted either ot be judged, or put in a dungeon

(In true midwestern fashion, the meatballs are cooked in chili sauce with a spoonful of grape jelly. The baroness insisted, Hope might have despaired.)

Some consider it quite exotic, others chuckle with good humor. And besides ,enough brought food to spread around

Sparrow also TRIES food. It seems the new baroness doesn't quite have tolerance for Texas-spicy, but she's game to try - with a laugh as her eyes water.

It would appear some have mercy on her. BBQ insead of Tex Mex. It's different from KC BBQ.. which is better is up to her perferences. And there's some home made icecream!

No forbidding darkness, no parasites, laughter and song.... this is, perhaps, a very different Yule indeed.

Someone has prepared a small private room for the Sluagh with tea with mint

'Grete, Grete!" Stew says "She's not pouring hot oil on the carolers? Should we tell her she's doing it wrong??"

"Don't you dare!" She scolds Stew, before realizing. "Um, I mean, we can make an exception. Just this once."
