"You talk backwards sometimes so I don't know know how to read that, and that's on me, but if your'e making friends I'm glad for you. Don't tell anyone, and if you don't have enouogh friends, I'm pretty sure you'll annoy people until they become your friends. I mean, you can fly pretty far so you got options."

"I mean - it's fine? I guess? But it's stupid."

"Yeah? How so?"

He could try to scare her into telling him shit, but that does not work on pooka no matter how much he wishes it would. The lies would get worse in a fit of panic and he'd feel... what's that word? Meant for other people? Oh yeah, Guilty.

She futzes with the feathers on her forearm and shrugs again. "How long until we gotta meet all new people again?"

Her brother pauses, then thinks it over, "Oh shit, that would suck SO much if we had to do it again." He says "So very furking much. Look, I don't think we're going to have the same disaster, but look at this way, you spent like 10 plus years in the old place... so this place should be good for another 10 years and by then you'll be a wilder probably working for the airlines or something."

"You don't know that."

"I don't, but I know as much as you and you don't know either so why assume shit is going to happen the same way? Shit happens, it's like, life, but it doesn't repeat that directly you know? Maybe this time instead of losing a house you get plucked, maybe Egon breaks a leg and we scare him with talk about having to put him down? That kind of thing."

Her jaw works but she nods. "Yeah, no, it's dumb."

"Did I SAY Dumb?" Teeth flash, "I was saying its unlikely. WHen you're being dumb I'll tell you, that's what big brothers are for."

She squeaks. "Sorry!"

He mmphs, mollified, "Good. Now, one thing I DID hear is that Mom and Dad got good insurance this time. So if the new house trouble they get money to fix it."

Les is not so sure it is GOOD Insurance, but pooka get to lie all the time so there.

Now it's HIS turn.

"What if..." She hesitates. "Okay."

"What if what?" He asks though he's not sure he should ask, but at the same time he wants to know.

"What if they decide we're trouble? Like at home, when the Baron got upset about Dad borrowing some sparkly things?"

"Or when Mom told that sidhe to (*&^^^ her *&^$%$%&^..."

"Well screw them if they're that uptight, though it's trolls not sidhe so there's a plus, right?"

She considers, and nods.

"Trolls lie all the time. Can't ever trust their word."

"Worse that pooka" He nods.

"Right!? Fibby fibbers!"

"It's because they're so tall, truth can't survive a fall of that distance," He's not that good at science but his mom says all sorts of weird shit and you do pick up a little.

She nods sagely. "That's why they're tall tales."

A light snerk, "Damn it, that one was actually funny." begruding.

A voice calls up, It's Dad "KIDS! Dinner's ready. Go get your mom for me then we can eat!"

Amity bounces up to her feet. "GOING!"

"We get to piss Mom off? Dad knows how to motivate..." And down he goes too.

It is pasta, and Mom can be pried with pestering, so soon all are enjoying a good family meal.
