For Rowan, the sleep was comfortable, huge ass bed, high ceing, and the glamoour of the bale was... it made them feel strong, ready, and resolved

The only problem was the different sounds. New Agengard has different squeaks, thunks, and echoes than this oh-so-rustic Lodge. However, the sleep was good.

Time to start the day. Up...find a bathroom...wash, dress, straighten up the bed. Put duffel in the closet; even if it doesn't lock, it's a level of expected privacy.

There is a latch, that's nice.

There is a latch! Yes! However

A latch is okay. And...well, time will tell what's up with this place.

There also is a puppy. Curled up on the foot of their bed when they awake.

((Well...let's backtrack all that, then! 🙂 ))

The waking-up cycle takes an unexpected turn when their foot encounters something warm and roundish. "What the...?" Sitting up suddenly, blinks and squints at the whatever-it-is.

The little shepherd mutt is NOT one of the giant dogs that roams these grounds. And he is sound asleep, a paw twitching as he chases rabbits or somethign in his dreams

Rowan scowls across the room at the door. I know I closed it. And latched it. I double-checked. (Is it still latched?)

Closed and latched!

Well...crap. Of course, the pup has settled directly between their ankles, effectively pinning them under the blankets. Son of a bitch. Well, fine. The long process of careful foot-extrication begins.

He rolls over, belly into the air, and snoozes on.

It is a very tempting belly.

A deep sigh of annoyance. "C'mon, man...."

They reach over to the bedside table and retrieve the red-lensed glasses, put them on.

the pup finally shifts to wakefulness and blinks sleeepily up at them.

Then, he pads to the door, and gives it a scratch

A smirk. "Seriously, dude?" They haul their ass out of bed, go to the door, bow formally, and intone, "By all means, your majesty," and opens the door.

His curled tail WAGS and he pads away!

But NOT before (when they bow) jumping to lick their chin!

Heh heh heh

"Bleh!" A jerk backwards, wiping dog spit off their face while closing the door. AND LATCHING IT.

And now the wake-up/get-up/get-going cycle begins.

The shower hits their HEAD, not their neck. How nice it is set at the right height!

That IS refreshing, in multiple ways.

Towels are big too

Modesty has never been that much of a concern, but not having to strategize which part of the body stays chilly on the way back to the room is another plus.

And there is a smell they might catch. Pumpkin pies?

More of that down-home atmosphere. Well, let's see what today brings. And down they go to the main hall.
