Which, in her defense, IS subtle... for a troll.

Brekke nods to Tig, then addresses the Scathach. "You are among Baron Kealan's people, yes?"

Symon nods back to Dagmar, but doesn't approach if she's still surrounded by guards and questioning thanes and looky-loos.

"Isla, thane of Teaneck" She bows.

Brekke nods again. "Thane Isla, what do you know of how this happened?"

She works to get some space!

And with the Chief pullinngg away Isla and Tig she gets it

"I'm afraid we haven't collected and researched enough yet to say, Chieftain. It's a thallian, that sometimes hinnts at House Balor, but that's too easy a diagnosis"

"How could she have gotten in here, though?" Brekke seems especially concerned at the apparent weakness in Count Hemlock's defenses, even if it is not in Caer Falken proper.

"Our current workingg hypothesis is.. she had help. Interrogation will reval more" the woman is terse, though not meaninn to be rude

Symon finally joins Dagmar's side. "Have you ever seen a design that looks like this?" Showing Dagmar a password-protected pic of the card on his phone... or, should it have been Chimerical, in one of his notebooks instead.

The playing card, the sword/blade.

A scowl. "Help. From inside." Brekke looks around the room, as if whoever might have helped will readily reveal himself/herself.

As she scans the room, she mutters, "If I may be of assistance in this interrogation, I hope you will call upon me."

Brow furrow.

She shakes her head. "Library? If not ours, maybe the big one at Earth Runes?"

"We have our own Gwydions, Chieftain," Isla says "But as thane Tig has already told me 'this involved Vale fledges, it involves Vale eyes' " She gives him a side look "Your thane is proud"

"YOU can make the opening sally though. No offense, the Librarian there is kinda creepy."

"Damn right it does" Tig's jaw sets

Brekke's jaw is equally set. "My thane is accurate. We will be involved."

Isla gives an unfazed shrug "As it maybe. I'm sure the baron will call upon you if he requies you, and I'll iform him you wish to be so"

Symon is somewhat distracted - not NOT listening to Dagmar, but eavesdropping on all else he can also hear at the same time. "Miss Zara may be pleased by that." A gummy grin back over to Dagmar.

Then Lut says "Chieftain? Sir Frank annd Mountain Emmit want to get Mountain Emmit away for a talk, presumably with you... the lodge or the farm?"

A shrug. "Well, if you wanna tell her... I mean, try to leave me some dignity, yeah?"

He huffs a bit of amusement. "I wouldn't tell a soul, other than that there are those wary of her. The devil is in the details."

"But seems a chance there'd be a reference to it - or Creepy Librarian would know. Way Siv talks about her, at least."

Brekke nods to Lut, frowning in thought. "Thank you. I think we will go to the Farm. I want the Mountain safe from here." Without further word, she goes to speak to Frank and Emmit.

She finds Frank prrotecting Emmit

A quick discussion about getting back to the Farm. "...getting back without being followed would be best. I can fuddle, but perhaps not well enough to distract all who might be hunting."

Frank nods.

"I can " Emmit offers

"You are both a sufficient answer for most threats. Together, all the moreso."

"Siv's pretty smart. That is, for a Troll with a brain stuck halfway through a romance novel." Symon says. "Though, don't tell her I said that. Either part." He adds, quickly.

Snort. Smile.

Brekke nods, then says, "A moment." She leaves Frank and Emmitt to go speak to Dagmar across the room. (Whether she spots Symon there as well is largely up to Symon.)

He is beside Dagmar... a glance up at Brekke, "Chief. Do you want to talk to Dags alone?"

She shakes her head to Symon, though she seems to appreciate the offer. "Dame Dagmar, keep watch over the Lodge. Frank and I will be escorting the Mountain home." And woe be to the one who tries to interfere on our way.

A firm nod. "Will do."

A smaller nod from Symon.

Aside, "Sy, you wanna show it to her?"

A nod of confidence -- of course Dagmar will -- and she turns to depart.

"Uh, yeah. Chief? Do you recognize this symbol?" Showing her, discretely.

Brekke pauses, almost having missed that Symon said anything at all. She frowns and bends closer to look at the thing.

A distinctive blade design...

"A blade, and arrow fletchings...." she mutters, thinking.

"Or a rune?"

Symon might have suspicions, but keeps them to himself so as not to be 'leading'.

Then her eyes go wide, and she snatches the card from Symon's hand.

The card itself, is not there. This is just a roughsketch on one of his notepads.

The notepad is snatched, then. It is more an act of reflex than intent.
