Then something oozes through, clattering, scattering, the size of warhorse, but no mammal. It's draconic head on a serpent's body, pulling itself along by two salamander like legs, and it hisses and mutters "skallstryke...great dragon... fah, rotbreath show what lindnorm do"

"Oh, shit...." Adam stands, mace ready

"Whas? Oh... guardians... Rotbreath got job, little guard. Out of way, or death to your fae soul I shall bring!" It's eyes are glazed with hate and stupidity

"Like hell you will!!" Adam challenges.

Oak snarls at it and stands by Adam

A horrid stink flows over them, acidic and it hurts a little

"Ugh..." Adam makes a face. "What are you, a stinkbug?" He closes to attack the thing.

"Why isn't your fae soul withering? I ROTBREATH!" THen it gets hit by Adam, it's scales take the worst of it, but still "OW! HURTS US!"

Oak flanks and tears at a leg!

Adam hammers away at it, careful of counterattack but also wanting to beat it to paste.

Counter attack it does, slashing at Adam with it's other leg that the dog is not chewing on "You die! Job easier if you die! So die!"

And the chain vest he's been given loses a chain or two, but that's better than it tearing deep in his torseo

"Ha!!"

Adam strikes again and again....

Adam's blows are NOT ineffective! Dagmar and Tove's training come to him, and he doesn't just 'hit hard' he hits hard at the right locations! Joints, eyes, areas already wounded. Is it nice? NO... does it work? hell yes. There's no point in trying to trip a thing that's largely serpent

But he makes it bellow as he mashes Rotbreath's eye "Na fair! Mean man! Mean! LIndnorm great once... then dragons say we not of them, we 'lesser!'"

"Yeah, Well? Bet you ARE!"

"Wait, wait... you not fae! You cheat! CHEATER! Breath for fae souls! CHEAT!" Furious it lunges forward, and tears at Adam's leg, less armored, he can feel fangs clamp through his skin and right down to the bone!

"Aaaaaahhhhh!!!" Adam screams in pain and slams his mace down on its head.

Oh yeah, he just took out that eye entirely...but the thing looks ready to sever his leg OFF.

Until Oak tears it's belly with fangs and forces it to let it be.

Rotbreath would have severed that leg if it weren't for that dog, and the dog pays for it as the Lindnorm turns and bites down on Oak...

Adam staggers, falls, and swings his mace again.

Oak let's loose a great YIPE and is tossed to the side, several holes in the great hound as if he had been hit with six spear points at the same time

Adam's weapon strikes while it was focused on the dog, with all his might, and there is a crack! As the creature's skull breaks, oily blood sputtering out... and it thrashes like a snake, it's tail sending the boy spinning

Adam is flung to the side and lays there in agony for a bit, watching the Chimera warily.

"Death.. was to bring to..other... you.. no fae soul. Cheater... Cheater..." It lurches towards him , weak but still strong enough to kill

"Adam, we gave you a dam healing cookie, eat it fast and kill that thing!" A voice declares

Adam fumbles for the tid bit in question, finds it, eats it through chattering teeth.

His leg, he can move!

the wound is still nasty, but...oh crap...

It lunges for him again, but misses.. perhaps mostly blind

Prone, Adam swings at it.

The weapon meets the lunging head and BAM, two forces meet, his full swing, it's full lunge... sadly for the monster, the meeting location was held at it's already cracked skull... fangs fly, and down it goes, finally dead spewing more of that odd breath...

And then it slumps

and stops

Panting, Adam looks around to see who spoke.

Oak is breathing hard

Elbows and stomach, the boys goes to Oak. "You ok, boy?"

Nope, the dog is dying.

But he might have a cookie, another...

Peanut butter, dogs can handle that right?

Adam pats his pockets frantically, finds it, crumbles it into the dog's mouth.

The dog eats and his breathing grows regular.

"Nice work," Vali, the voice's source, approaches, on his shoulder is Nabuni

Adam rests on the ground with Oak. "Thanks?"

"I missed a bunch, and hit some stuff I wasn't aiming for.

"It was a moving target..." Vali moves down, "And where you hit..." He eyes the eye and skull, "Looked pretty well picked to me."

Adam looks at Nabuni.

"Sorry, running to get help was all I could think to do," Nab says
