Dirk gathers his things, that spiked morning star that he got as a gift still prized, "you got a plan on what to tell Anne Marie?"

Symon is carefully polishing and oiling the joints on SCORPINOX, and has the small knife loaned by Olgar set out, along with various other supplies neatly arranged to be packed for the trip. "There's always the truth. I don't especially feel like getting grounded again, not with Samhain coming up. It's kinda our day, y'know?"

"Yeah, and if she says no we just say 'tough' and go? Huhm... " Unsure then a set to his jaw, "Okay, yeah. Our time."

"If she says no, that's a shame. But we're going anyways. It's just like... more respectful, to tell her rather than disappear. Right? Either way, she'll worry, but this way at least she knows what she's worried about. And with a dragon on the way, we might actualy be SAFER there, the one place we know the dragon won't be.... right?"

"Uhm... but aint' there danger there too, I mean, that's why you need me. "

While he's gotten brighter in the last year, perhaps by osmosis with others, Dirk can still be a bit slow to catch on.

"Yeah, but we should emphasis the danger here to Anne Marie. It might make her feel better." Carefully stacking up a series of autumn leaves collected earlier, and wrapping them in a ziplock baggie to tuck into a pocket of his bag.

"You better handle that" Dirk says after a bit. "Maybe get her to go on a vakay suddenly with the Doc" Meaning Symon's dad

He thinks this over for a moment. "...I dunno. I don't think she'd be willing to go out of town when there are people that might need help here. Damn bleeding heart."

"Shit. Boggans. Why do we have them again?" But he looks worried

He sighs. "Let's just tell her how it is. Maybe she'll have some advise or something that might help us along the way."

"Yeah. Maybe" A grunt.

It turns out that Anne Marie is more thoughtful than distressed, "You'll be safer, you say? I'm not sure about that but I do know that if I ground you you'll go anyway. Local grumps gossip and a lot of that going around"

He grumbles inaudibly, but acquiesces - and his eyes snap open with surprise at the bunk. His step mom still has a few surprises up her sleeves. "Don't worry. We'll come home safe." Or die trying. he finishes, in his head.

He snickers, and give her one last squeeze before squirming out of the hold. "You'd do it, too. I know it."

Dirk look alarmed and he whispers "I think she's about to cry, let's get the hell out of here' Unprepared

"Uh..." Quick thinking. "Dirk could use help with packing. Shoving clothes in is the most efficient use of space, right? Because there's no gaps in between like if it's folded?"

"Oh, of course" She races upstairs

He snickers and disappears to finish his own packing before Dirk realizes what has been wrought upon him.
