A howl sets up in the distance, fierce and wild. A dog, a wolf perhaps, or something more primal, more savage, and most certainly on her scent.
Another wild cry answers, closer this time, and then another, until the grounds seem to echo with the sounds of a pack gathering for the hunt.
Somewhere beyond the trees, something crashes through the underbrush, followed by the unmistakable sound of paws? Feet? It's not hooves, she can tell as much... pounding against the earth. Whatever is out there, it has caught the scent, and it is coming closer.
The snarling and crashing grows louder, more urgent, as though the hunters have found their quarry and have no intention of letting it escape.
