Gwen returns almost shyly

"Bernice Chasesky" She says

"The Lakota lady?"

"Yup. I got her email, mailing adress and other things. I just need to find a way to convince her to talk to a woman she hasn't seen in years. I mean, I was a KID"

"Do you think she still lives inthe same place? That has got to have been, what - 10 years ago, or longer?' Art considers. "Did you exchange correspondence with her? What did they call that. Pen friends?"

"Well, I THINK She might but she was often away on conventions and meets. Maybe I can find out where she is showing up next and it will be closer? I did send her some fan mail, and she wrote back so kindly."

"You met so long ago - you wonder if she is a nunnehi?"

A pause "The thought never even occured to me." She admits " I.. well, I thought she maybe would be a dreamer now that I know what a dreamer is."

"That sounds like a great starting point. Do you think there would be information about upcoming meetings on Computer?"

"Probably" She says "White people don't own social media or the internet"

"Well, maybe you can try that. I'm not very good at finding things." He admits.

"You kidding? You're a master at finding the right book "

"In a library." He grins.

"YEah, but it takes me like a half hour to find a book you'd get in five minutes" She reminds

"But I don't know how to find things on computer. I doubt our library would have information about upcoming events. Past historical ones, I could find I bet?"

"Art, we're gonna have to have a long sit down..."

"It just feels so impersonal!"

"Biblophiles" She chuckles fondly

"It's got its uses. Plus math! Cool math stuff! Math to get to space?"

"But I can do math on paper." He grins to Thistle.

"Right, but the computer is electric math! Like, have you ever seen a jacquard loom? I think there's something to be said for how textile and technology have the same linguistic root... but, anyways, you can access books from, like Ausberg or Sydney or Beijing through the computer!"

Gwen smiles and looks things up online while those two talk, seeing if there is more modern contact info

"Humans made it to the moon before there was internet!" He argues back, grinning!

A smirk , listenining

"RIght, but they still used computers."

"AND they work the same, just, y'know, smaller."

She lights up. "Which - hey! You could SO build a chimerical computer, even without fubars!"

They argue for a while, happily.

Meanwhile...

After some time spent searching through various pages and more than a few false starts, including a porn site that might make her turn interesting shades of purple, Gwen stumbles upon a posting on a small Native cultural center's website.

Which makes sense... after all, Tahlequah, just outside of Tulsa, is the capital of the Cherokee Nation and is home to many tribal government buildings, cultural centers, and events.

It looks like there is a similar event in South Dakota as well, but that's not until Summer.

"Shit. I know where to find her, but I don't like it"

Art looks up, puzzled. "What's wrong?"

It may be some comfort that it is not on the reservation she grew up in, but in the larger town of Tulsa instead. Still, it's her old stomping grounds, before she Chrysalized.

"My father there was an alchohalic wife beater so not the best memories at the end"

Said resigned

Art drops his fork in surprise, and it clatters loudly in the sudden silence.

"Not like I talked about it much" She answers "I ended up here and found a better life. Going back is a risk"

"He... if he's still there, he can't hurt you now." Art says, uncertainly. He looks like he might want to reach out to Gwen, but is unsure of the correct way to act.

A glance to Thistle, pleading.

"Well, you can take him on now."

"And we won't let him touch you, neither."

"Of course not!" Art agrees. "He'd have to go through ... through... the entire Barony to try to lay one finger on you."

WHUFF. Says Ivan, who is Not Supposed to be in the Breakfast Room.

Art slips the dog a piece of bacon.

"Art, don't spoil him" A smile though "And, no, dad won't be a problem"
