"Turned out she woulda rather chopped off her leg at the knee and get a bitchin' peg. Point is, don't quest TOO hard unless yer sure yer lookin' for the right thing. It's a bitch to come back all high and mighty and then get turned down."

"Huh, sounds like dating that last part"

"Eh?" He scratches his head. "Wouldn't know. Ain't been on any."

A pause, and he looks over at Gwen. "Shit, is this a date? Should I have brought some, eh, dead plants or sommat?"

She smiles "Sorry, that wasn't fair of me. No, it's not. I asked YOU and I'm not sure I'm that progressive. It was just ... two folks not wanting to be quite so alone."

He looks relieved. "Thank fuck. I mean, no offense, like I said before, you're a fuckin' catch, but I ain't got time for complications, like. I gots me dogs and remember Rip, the big bruiser? SHe's so full of pups it looks like she's gonna explode like John Hurt in Alien."

"Oh geez, all going well with her? No pain beyond the norm?"

"Naw she's just ready to blow. You wanna come eyeball them pups? Gutwound is the pa." Naming a particularly muscled bully that had helped keep the hogs at bay.

Crawford sounds proud enough to be the expectant father himself, though.

"I think I'd like that" She says "She likes me. Didn't rip my arm off anyway"

"You gots a good touch." He says, jutting out his jaw. "And if she did, probably wouldn't get through the stone, right? HAW!"

"Probably not" She admits the perk has it's advantages "So you're talking full litter sounds like. Hopefully they'll all make it"

"Yeah, sometimes the lil uns don't. Life.," He glares off the path for a while. "Ain't bother me none. But I should get a good crop."

Perhaps fooling no one.

She looks at the shorter kith with a twinge of ...admiration. He cares. he really does. She wouldn't like him if he didn't. "It happens... that life. Kind of a bitch like that"

"Well, bitches be bitches." He says. "I'll let you know when she whelps, eh?"

"Please. I'd like that. I won't even count it as a date. I know you like it simple" A hint of amusement , but something else

"Yah. I best get back to her." He eyes Gwen, and considers saying something else, then just shrugs. "Next time, bring the brat along if you want." For a hunt, for a movie, he doesn't say.

"Maybe I'll keep you to myself, but.. sure"

He snorts amusedly before heading out.

She watches him go, and smiles Friendzoned by a redcap? Worse fates I suppose. He's not so bad though

She walks off whistling a tune she doesn't even recognize

But it's a happy one
