Baroness Nadeen did not need the extra dross, it turned out, though she was grateful for the help that was given. That said, she did realize this talk of Calanthe's books and notes (Of course, she had the journal) was worth exploring.

It was perhaps to a certain Squire's credit that he offered to help.... repeatedly

It could take hours, days, searching this hold hoping to find the books in question.

And even that might come to naught.

However... The Baroness does have a cheat. She communes with the fire over it. Seeing if it grants her some insights

Nadeen already had found Calanthe's workshop and dictimed her way in long ago and there the notes. Other journals were gathered from Calanthe's offices.

But a mystic tome? Interesting theory

There are the most frustrating hints to additional works, stored in 'safety'. Mention of, yes, another tome, one penned in an older hand and added to by Calanthe herself, but no matter how much Nadeen searches, or questions the Fire, it is no where to be found.

"Aggrivating" She admits

One very vague and puzzling remark. "Along the path of silver vine, whence magic and safety doth entwine."

The Dreaming. She has books in the Dreaming. Which is a bit like saying someone has a needle in a hay stack somewhere in Canada. Good luck finding it Still, intriguing.

Still, she does have the notes and journals about Chicanery, as well as Calanthe's more private diaries.

Indeed, one could learn a lot about Chicanery from the woman's notes. Nadeen has purused them. A base commoner art, some nobles would say, but power.. is power. And Nadeen gives Calanthe credit for realizing that. The private diaries are looked over in even greater detail now. And Nadeen could kick herself for not reading some of them sooner. The use of dreamers reads like a horror show, and some are perhaps now lost, but perhaps a few could be ...repurposed.

But it has been some time.

There are even some pieces of dross, but it is... unpleasant. Any port in a storm, but these letters written in confidence to a therapist, pieces of artwork crying out for help... it is not the flavor Nadeen favors, even at her most unseelie.

And now, a dove. Irony.

She makes a note of the letters, the names on them. She may ask the thanes to investigate, cautiously, these people.

One letter at the bottom - this reads like a final letter, speaking of how life is no longer worth living, and this will be the last they hear from him. Oh, it was wrapped in silk like an especial treasure. Alas, that one may not be salvageable.

"I am sorry, whoever you are. " She shakes her head. She looks at it anyway.

This one several years old. If nothing else, it colors in the picture of who Calanthe really was, under her lovely exterior.

She sees if there is a name on the note of the likely suicide victim

There is, just a first name, Derek. Maybe enough to search off of, should she wish.

She makes a note to do that. Why? she's not sure. Mayhaps it's th e seelie upon her.

As for the dross ala Calanthe. She wrinkles her nose distastefully at it. She is unseelie, but not a sadist. Best this is used in small isolated doses if at all

It gleams to her fae senses, energy, dark and rich, ready to be used. All she must do is rip the page, and the power is hers!

"Thank you for the offer," She tells the dross wryly "But I'm already beautiful and terrible and I am worshiped just fine"

She makes a note that this dross is to be used in conjunction with lighter, happier seelie dross so that balance might be sought.

Flickering at the edge of her awareness, approval from the Balefire. Were it winter, it might hunger for a taste of that dross to bolster itself, but in the height of summer, it burns a happier light.

A pleased look at the bale at that and a nod of respect.
