The bleeps fall silent, Art is apparently back to work.

Gwen looks to Thistle "It was Artie. he asked me to help you. Says he screwed up"

A sigh.

"The Baron says he might not get Sained. So he's... yeah, he's in trouble."

Another face scrub, looking tired. "I gotta gas up the scooter, and head home."

"Okay. I'm only a text away if you need me" Gwen offers

"Okay. I'll be back soon to get the food."

There will be not one, but three dishes waiting for her to take with her! A rice bake with fragrant spices, a rich beef stew, and some pastries that are an eye-smarting yellow and smell of curry and beef.

Boggans are amazing when they put their mind to it.

And off Thistle goes, leaving Gwen at home, it seems.

"Sure will, Mom" Gwen stops "I ... I'm not trying not to force myself into this, but it's hard just... waiting to help if they need it instead of being proactive sometimes"

"Well, I'm a boggan. Keeping my nose and my opinions to myself was never an option, hm? Now, about that, what was it, Snipe hunt? Do you think that is something you should take on without Thistle, or wait for her return? She's certainly got a double-helping on her plate as it is. Maybe that sweet young ...lady might help, even if she doesn't have the raw firepower that our Thistle has." Politically not mentioning Lizbet's kith. "You might find out what she likes to eat for me. Bluebell made suggestions, but for the life of me... I'm just not sure if she's pulling my leg or not."

"Stirge hunt mom. Snipes are harmless. The Sturges are horrible and dangerous. Lizbet handled them pretty well last time" A frown "I had hoped the flamethrower would put some things on easy mode, but it's not fair to Thistle to ask her to put a stirge hunt ahead of her sister and family. " Her brow knits "I may have to ask someone else to hunt the stirges if Thistle needs help with her sister, though Dame D'Lorean might go with her instead. what suggestions did Bluebell make?"

"Gummy worms was a big part of it?"

"I don't suppose... would it seem, oh, churlish of us, or cheap, to offer to host a togail and saining at the same time? No, that's silly." She shakes her head. "Logistically it may be a nightmare. "

"I think it might be unfair to them both," She admits "If they were good friends, sure, but they're not"

"Bless. Arty has stepped in it this time, hasn't he."

"Apparently so. Lavender says the Baron got cut up because of Art's action. " A pause "And try the gummi worms. Put them in a goblet. if they want them, they'll thank you. If they don't, they'll think it's just for morbid decore. "

"They'll appreciate it either way"

"So far I've only received a venue, but no headcount. I'll need at least a week to properly age anything I've made myself, if I understand properly the sluagh... palate." Politely refraining from an expression of distaste. I could order out, of course, but it seems a failing on my part. Imagine, me, Marigold, unable to cater a simple togail?"

"Sounds like it's not so simple, mom'

"Hmmph!" A stubborn look. "The day I have to order in for a fete provided by Silverwolf is the day I retire!" A glint in her eyes seems to say there's not much chance of EITHER.

"Marcellus would never let me hear the end of it." A sniff.

A wince "Oh Marcellus would totally rub it in" THen a thought "What if you asked for help from Darkgate for the ah.. spoiled food? They have sluagh. It's not the same as ordering from a non kithain source? We could trade them something"

She considers, "Marcellus didn't say no when I sent some refreshments along with Wudlig's creation for that competition they recently held. Which reminds me, we should reassure him that his work is top notch. It might have stung to be passed over, and he is such a clever lad."

"Oh wudlig's been sulking in his 'secret lair'" She rolls her eyes "But okay"

There are good smells starting to come from the kitchen. A door is heard closing, and Marigold calls out, "Briar, those are NOT for you. I can make you a sandwich if you're hungry."

"Awww, MAN!"

"Wow. you have really good hearing"

"Oh, I've learned to listen for that one." Fondly. "How about you, Gwennie? I have cold roast beef or ham and cheese?"

she checks her stomach "Cold roast beef sounds really good actually, thank you, mom" A smile

"Fancy"

"Now, Briar, it has to simmer down. I'll make some elk stew tonight if you like, that's better than old beef stew any day isn't it?"

Briar cheers up a little at that, and a lot more as she sees the roast beef coming out and sandwiches being whipped up - irish cheddar, whipped horseradish, even a simple sandwich is classy in Marigold's kitchen.

"How you doing, Briar?"

The childling wipes the drool from her chin onto a sleeve. "Hungry. Always hungry! I had to chase Glass down earlier across halfway to the far side of that field past the creek. She scented something and wouldn't stop goin' at it. Stupid moron dog."

"She got held up by a fence finally, but it took forever to walk back."

The sandwiches are presented, and Briar has one swallowed as soon as it hits the plate. The second one she takes a bite and actually chews.

"She scented something? you think it was a stirge?"

She grabs her roast beef "thanks mom," And savors
