Danica comes back, as promised. How long has she been standing there, actually? Zelda has hauled out a wheelbarrow filled with components that are a mystery to any outside of the spiral-faced tribe, and they are fitting pieces together, removing them, and arguing. Oh, the arguing, it might sound like a domestic dispute, but Zelda, at least, is in high spirits.

"Were you raised Amish and never learned electricity outside of what you can pull from a furkin' potato? Of COURSE you need to ramp up the engine spline with 212 volts, or the whole thing will go ferkakta!"

Thistle KNEW that, if she'd only get a chance to- HEY! Now she can point out that the central sprocket is missing a tongue...

"Yer worryin' about voltage, when the medial sprocket is already busted!"

"WHAT? The medial sprock ain't got a problem, that's fresh, I only used it in two other- " SQUINT. "Well, I'll be fucked sideways, when did that happen?" Zelda glares at the sprocket, but then shrugs.

"Ain't no use sniveling over a bent sprocket. Always more where they come from. And if it's nonstandard, you can cast it in lostwax if it's something simple, or I know a guy, kin he is, works at a Machining shop over outside of Rome, they can mill ANYTHING to 0.001 precision..."

"You ever been in a fab lab?"

"I ain't good with that digi-whatsits, but you're whatchamacallit, the Millennial gen, right?"

"Zoomer."

"Millenials are old."

"I've heard about lost wax, though!"

"Yeah, yeah, lost wax, that's old school. There's a fab lab down, hour, buck and a half south, by Syracuse. You should check it out if you need a custom piece. Lemme know how it goes if you do."

"I'll have to check it out. Not too far from Dad's, then."

"Yeah?" It looks like little more than a mess, but some sort of contraption is starting to come together. Arm mounted, it's not small nor subtle, but perhaps that might come in time.

"Yeah. Dad and Janice and my kid brother Frankie. Hey, what if we mounted the vials down the side? Drill it out here..."

"You need to account for the base non-reactive fuel that can mix with any of those, THAT will need a larger canister... could mount HERE like one of those souped-up soakers, or a backpack..."

"Kid bro, huh? He got any glam in him? Watch out in case he pops."

"C'n always use a new member of the tinker tribe."

Over by Zelda's elbow, there's an uncapped bottle of copper chloride, and Coral is buzzing around it curiously. It DOES look an awful lot like the bottles of flavor extracts that Marigold uses, which the Nevers are very fond of...

"He's got the blood. He might be.. well, I got a theory"

Just as Zelda's elbow jostles the bottle, Danica is there. She grabs Coral, ungently in her haste, and the Never CHIMES in agitation.

The other hand grabs the bottle that is tipping over.

A tiny bit splashes out and sizzles where it hits the floor, but misses the Thane's hand.

"GOT dangit, you giant, bleat brained idjit! What're you messing with that for?!" Zelda fumes at Danica.

An inward sigh, and Danica just turns, walking to the door, and releases Coral just outside. The door is pulled back shut.

The Never buzzes at the door, tapping at the glass like an annoyed fly.

"Back off, she was helping! Danica!" And Thistle goes after the thane.

(pause)

Zelda calls after her, "A bottle of caustic furkin' acid is like a dropped knife! Ain't got no handle!"
