"Listen, once we're in the city we can take the subway or whatever. You can do your own thing."

"hey!" He laughs! "I can watch myself. As long as there aren't any open manhole covers..."

"New York City isn't all lit up and magical like the TV shows and movies... it's got people, and a lot of them are banal too. You got dreamers , of course, and really old dreams, but concordian standards... but don't think Goblintown is theo nly dangerous place and what the heck?" He takes his hat off "What part of what I said about me being in charge made you think I was gonna l;et you two zip around one of the biggest cities in the world without supervision while I got the blame if stuff went wrong?"

Snort. "I've been there before, just not since the spirals."

"Then you quite literally haven't seen half of it even if you somehow saw all of it." He points out

"Another good reason to go back?"

"Another reason why I'm not just dropping you off and going 'have a nice trip enjoy the Big Apple, hugs, kisses and kicks"" A snort

"I wonder why it's called an Apple." Art muses.

"We aren't babies."

"Fine. Get Willy to do it" He starts to rrise

She scowls.

"No, anything but that!"

Joking! Probably. Mostly!

"I'll be on my best behavior. Honest!"

"Well don't ask me for a favor then tell me how It's GONNA happen THIS way" A snort

"I'm not. I'm just saying we don't need a furkin' babysitter. We just were asking for a lift."

"Not a babysitter, but an escort, I suppose." He says, acquiescing. "Then we'll know what we want to take a closer look at when we go back NEXT time, on our own."

Though, it's not like it's the dreaming, or a dangerous trod journey. It's just a city. How dangerous can it be? He thinks, but does not say aloud, as the trip dangles dangerously close to being cancelled.

"Look, Thistle... what happens to you two reflects on Silverwolf. How it does or doesn't care for it's fledges. Now, Gladiola takes it too far I think, but I really I don't want to the the one to catch shit from the Baroness or Baron because I 'just gave you a lift' then left you to get lost. And you two maybe older than me in someways, but I've been a Kithain a lot longer than both of you and it ain't all eel soup and steam engine kettles"

She grumbles. "We asked you because we didn't want a nanny."

"Then you need to go tell that to their lordships and see if they agree you're ready to be without supervision.. in New york freakin city "

She has a stubborn expression.

And there are gears ticking.

A side glance over to Thistle, and he doesn't say a word, though curiosity is clear.

"Yeah, it's fine Wudlig. Don't worry about it."

"Look. I.." He frowns unsure "I can see you're both thinking of doing something really stupid like going on your own. Don't do that"

Oh yeah, stubborn jaw.

A scratch of his jaw "Geez you're thick skulled.. I'll ask their lordships and maybe we can set up some kind of 'call or text every hour' plan"

"I am not."

"For furk's sake, I already said we didn't need to go to the one freehold, we just want to see a (&%$E&(& &(%^(* &%*( library."

"It would be helpful if you were. You wouldn't have to wear one of those orange hats on construction sites."

"Hey, I think Fornax is ready for a bedtime story?" The little nose is up and indeed, he fidgets!

"FIne. I"ll take you to the library! I'll stay in my part on it, you go to yours. Thanks for making a guy feel FRIGGIN welcome " ANd he stomps out

She makes a rude gesture at his back! "Thanks for MAKING THIS HARD!"

"Fornax needs a nap, yeah. C'mon, Art. Let's find those pages."

"Yeah!" And so they shall. Maybe Thistle will even eventually be told about the smudge of oil on her nose.
